Actress from "As the World Turns" passes away

This is so weird for me. I was just thinking about the show (which I watched for so many years), and wondered what became of the cast. Well, one is on QVC!

But I just read an article on the passing of Kathryn Hayes, who long time played the role of "Kim Hughes" on the show. She was 87. I didn't know she had played in Star Trek.

She was definitely a main fixture on the show for many years.

How sad .... I watched ATWT for a few years and don't remember her at all. Did she retire at some point, or was she in it until the end? I really don't remember her.

Kathryn Hayes was in the last scene of the final episode of As the World Turns, which aired on September 17, 2010.

I remember her, watched the show for years. Especially liked when Meg Ryan was on and dated handsome dude think his name was Steve but don’t remember his actor name. Anyway, may Kathryn Hayes RIP.

I never watched her in the soap, but I remember her well from her early days as an actress. She did so much television work, but to be honest I can't remember a single one performance specifically. She was just always around.

When I saw that she had died, the first thing I thought, was that she had been married at some point to Glenn Ford. I wasn't sure, so I looked it up, and yes, I was right about that.

It's funny what useless bits of trivia our minds will retain.

She was quite the item when she first arrived then they changed her role a lot. I think Dr. John was one of the best villans ever.

Sad to see this generation passing! My mom never turned on the tv in the day until she was working and home at lunch. She would watch the news then we'd see ATWT because since remote control was a remote concept, nobody would budge to turn the tv off. Then we got hooked.

I remember her. I didn't really watch ATWT but my mother did religiously, so I guess by default I did. She was a stay-at-home mom, but Dad came home for lunch every day and it was often on in the background.

I did not watch this soap so I googled to see who this was. In her younger days Ms Hays sure bared a resemblance to former host Nancy Horback.

I believe she played KIm and was in love with Bob, however Lisa was always in the mix lol.I always thought that hair cut was amazing on her Wow. I watched this show for years with my mom, she loved soap operas, or back in the day they were called stories. Thanks for posting this.

I used to watch ATWT with my mom so I definitely remember her. I always thought she was so beautiful and classy.

I watch from beginning to end and remembered her. So beautiful and one of the good ones on there.

My grandmother and I would watch together and if we had to go downtown SF, we made sure we went to one of the stores that sold TV's and would sit there in one of their chairs and watch ATWT when it was an 1/2 hour. That was before you could tape it and had to watch live.

Years later when i was working, i would tape it and never missed an episode.

I loved her in ATWT. She had a calming voice and a really chic hairdo. I started watching back in the 80s during summers as a teenager since my cousins liked it and got hooked on the Lily and Holden saga. I also liked Guiding Light but this one was my favorite.

Yes, I didn't realize her and I are one year apart. May she RIP.
