Did anyone watch Miss USA on Reelz network?

Apparently Reelz is not an HD channel. So what they did to accommodate the wide angle settings of the pageant was stretch the screen horizontally. That made everyone look fat, even those obviously stick thin contestants. I don't know if they do that with all of their programming, but it's almost unwatchable.

I skipped most of the show and went back around five minutes before the end to see who won.

I can't remember when I last watched a "beauty" pageant. But that's just me.

We have an HD version of Reelz with our cable. But I wouldn't have watched anyway.

I guess there was some DT drama, but I didn't even bother to click on that news piece. heh

I have HD and watched. All the contestants were lovely. I watch for the gowns and dresses. So many and some had drama as the ladies moved. MIss Oklahoma was the winner and she'll make a nice representative.

I did actually watch a little of the show. One of the questions that they asked the final 15 contestants is, "What female would you put on the $10 bill." (I am paraphrasing here, but that was the question). One of the women said "Oprah." Really? Above all other women in history, that is who she picked?

The way they did it was really unfair because I "assume" no one had heard the question prior to being on stage. The first woman had to think on the spot and the rest could all come up with their answers while waiting their turn -- not that that made their answers any better. That was the only segment I watched. I know they are lovely and accomplished women, but really these beauty pagents should be a thing of the past.

No I forgot to look up the channel number. No one young reads; the woman have to be dead to be on money. Was the Donald there since he mentioned he was going?

I watched it but missed the first hour. I am able to adjust how view a program with my remote so if you have it on "Wide" everyone will look wide. I used "Fit the Screen" and the girls looked normal. Quite a few of the women really messed up on their answers to questions. Two could not answer the question and one wants Oprah on the $10 bill. OMG! No wonder she ended up in last place -- 4th runner up! The woman that one really had a show stopper gown which I normally do not like but it looked beautiful on her. You can't blame the women for what Trump said so I don't agree with the network that dropped the show. Last year's winner was Hispanic -- thank goodness Trump was a no show. He needs to drop out of the race as he is not presidential material. Did you see the white lace looking dress with the long sleeves that belled out? OMG!

Yes, I did from beginning to end. I thought it went very well, considering the circumstances. Since all the original judges backed out, they were replaced by former Miss USA and Miss Universe winners, which I thought was a great concept. Also liked that it highlighted a number of contestants who are first generation Americans, and showcasing their families who came from all over the world to pursue the American Dream. The Q&A segment was the most interesting, and Miss Oklahoma (the winner) nailed her answer with a great response. I wish Miss Rhode Island could have done the same as I felt she had a chance to win. But perhaps nerves got the best of her. I can only imagine how these young ladies felt after the Trump incident, especially knowing that the pageant may have not gone on. As a former pageant contestant (albeit on a much smaller scale) I understand all the hard work these ladies do to prepare for this event. And I wish all of them the very best in their future endeavors. As for Reelz, this was a shot in the arm so to say for their network.

Also wanted to add that Reelz on my cable service (Cablevision) is HD.

Another pageant watcher! Good to know. I thought it was all well represent and it went off well. If others want to play petty nonsense, let them go and hold the pageants. The females were very accomplished young ladies. Good for America!

Puppy. you must have missed - they had headphones on when one contestant answered the question, removed when it was their turn, so they didn't hear the ? & have enough time to think of an answer (not that it showed!). Miss OK gave the best answers & was gorgeous in her big pink gown!

Ok thanks -- that makes more sense! I did think it was strange that the question was read in its entirety for each woman, but now I know it had to be. I did not see all the answers. Who did OK pick to be on the $10 bill?

Thanks for mentioning it though. I'd have wondered how it went. People forget this helps women go to school and get jobs.

Although I was not interested in this show, I noticed that some people are but didn't catch it, forgot, etc.

So, I checked the Tivo Guide for the next 12 days to see if there would be any re-airings. I figured that, being it is a cable channel, they would be likely to re-air it, right?

Well, nothing at least for the next 12 days. If I see it pop up on the guide I'll advise in case somebody wanted to see it.

Glad to help, A! I have lots of time on my hands.

Well, as long as my internet holds out. Having trouble with my router/modem and sometimes it doesn't work. Frustrating! Have a guy coming out on Thursday and I'm upgrading to Uverse.

Hoping that will work better. At least a couple of things are better - 1) Same price for twice the speed I have with their (ATT) DSL; and 2) You have to rent the modem/router for $7 a month and it's guaranteed to be replaced if it malfunctions. Before I always purchased that equipment and if it dies you have to buy it again.

PS: If anybody has Uverse and hates it, please DON'T tell me! I'm stressed out enough. Thanks
