Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Finally saw this on cable - wow, amazing film. Hard to watch, but amazing story, acting & cinematography. Rooney Mara & Daniel Craig both - incredible. Robin Wright is great too, although her part was pretty small she brings a lot to it.

Any other fans of the film? Also now that I've seen it, should I read the book?

I have watched this movie several times I find it extremely interesting and mesmerizing at the same time. It never gets old. I have not read the book.

Loved both versions of the movie (first was foreign made). Loved all the books, too. Usually books in a series decline in interest as the series progresses (think Outlander, Clan of the Cave Bear), but the Dragon ones just got better and better. I'm sorry that the author died after only three books in Dragon.

I did not realize there were additional books. I've got to get them, my feeling at the end of the film was, I wanted to stay with these characters, or at least Lisabeth.

There is a new book coming out September 1 - The Girl In The Spider's Web - same characters - but, of course, written by someone else. Looking forward to it - I read all three books and enjoyed them. Hope this is as good.

Good movie! I actually liked the movie better than the book, which is rare. Mind you, I liked the book, but I found it a little hard to get into at first. I've only read the first book in the series.

Loved the movie!!!!!! Watched it several times , it is dark, and deep but very very good, and Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig were excellent in their roles. I am so glad that Rooney was nominated for an Oscar for this role, it was very deserving. It must be quite hard to play such a dark character like that. I felt bad for her in the end though, because she really loved him!!!!!

I've watched the movie several times. Very good film. I think Rooney Mara got robbed of the oscar by Meryl Streep. I had never heard of her till this film and her skill at acting was phenomenal. I have also read all the books. The last one, Hornet's Nest, was harder to get through. But I recommend them all if you're interested in the whole story of Lisbeth.

I really liked the movie too. I'd recommend it to others and I don't usually do that as each person is so different.

We watched this (as it turns out again) over the weekend...

The fact that the setting somehow didn't jive in my mind, I think, is why I hadn't remembered this one very well. This and the fact that when I was teaching, I was so worn out all of the time that I fell asleep during our movies almost always!

This story is entrancing and eerie... I will do more research, but I'm sure this one hits pretty hard for some. What twisted people there are in this world -- meaning the murderer!

I am thinking that this is another book I'd like to read... perhaps a book would fill in some gaps. I can't imagine the book images replacing the images in the film. Probably from a film standpoint, this is quite a wonderful work. Images do remain in my mind...

I read and liked all the books, too. The movie was really good, but I preferred the book. I'm really looking forward to this other book that's written by someone else. Thanks for mentioning it. I had forgotten the name of it.

You can have too many for sure. I didn't watch the movie as I don't generally after reading the books. I did hear the foreign one was better. I did think the actress looked perfect for the part tho.

I preordered this book. I forget why he's continuing the series but I'm curious.

I read all 3 books first, then saw the movies a few years ago. Hard to say which I liked better. Usually it's always the books, this time, too close to call.

Both versions of the movie are good, but the girl in the foreign one was really exceptional. She really "sold" the character IMHO but Rooney was also very good.

I read all three books and thought it was one of the best series I've read. Then I saw all three versions of the Swedish movies on Netflix and enjoyed those as well. I have to say that I found the American version a bit too long and drawn out. I thought the Swedish actress did an excellent job.
