Adore J.B.....just the best! I used to listen to his album on my ipod while I was swimming, sooo talented.

Edited: "Drive"....one of my all time favorite songs. If you haven't heard it, get on You Tube and listen....you are in for a treat!

Thank you, phoenixbrd. The old rocker that I am went more for "Going Down," but Joe B. gets me moving in my seat. A divine talent. I read that he studied under Danny Gatton, a local guitarist often called "the best unknown guitarist in the world." My late brother knew Danny professionally and personally.

I and my sons heard B.B. King at D.A.R. Constitution Hall and Bob Dylan a couple times at a local university. Bobby "Blue" Bland sang at the King concert. A rockin' night.

The blues. That music speaks to me.

Bonamassa is great. I happen to love his version of "Had to Cry Today". "Takin'the Hit" has a mad crazy intro that I play over and over.

Jeff Beck's "Goin Down" is even better, IMO. Really tight, a little less soul (I love soul). If you can find it, the studio version with "The Jeff Beck Group" - orange - is the best.

Chris Duarte is a favorite of mine. Genius. I saw him at State Theatre with Tinsley Ellis (yawn). There was hardly anyone there and he totally blew the place up.

I have seen him a couple of times in small venues, he is fabulous! And LOUD, I wasn't able to hear well for a couple days but it was worth it! Great musician.

What is it about the sound BBB makes? There is nothing left to capture of a soul in pain. For some reason, I gravitate to this sound. It is so honest. So genuine. The gospel sound underlying it gives it its strength, I think.

A former bandmate of my brother (who is still a friend) is White, but boy I love his sound. Here is Gary St. Clair, who is a genius in my opinion. His sound on this recording is not the Blues; it is the old-time rock sound that I and others loved in the '60s.

[A footnote: When I saw James Brown perform at the Howard Theatre in D.C., in 1962 or so, I was with my brother, his wife and Gary St. Clair and his wife. Because of them, I was able to witness this thrilling performer in person.]

[Another add-on that might interest you. When I communicated with Gary not too long ago and mentioned the James Brown show we attended together, he told me that he had gotten the tickets for the show. Also, he got the tickets when he, my brother and a third member of the band attended Elvis Presley's comeback show in Las Vegas in 1969. I guess I will think of him as Gary "Got the Tickets" St. Clair.]

This is a bit of a distance from my original post on Joe B., but I cannot hold this in.

Gary shared that the widow of the third member of their band married -- hold on to your hat, folks -- Roger Stone. Yes, that Roger Stone. They've been together several decades, so it must be a good match.

She and the third member may have already split before he died. I don't know, to tell the truth.

I went with my DH to see him in a small venue inside one of our casinos. He was very, very good but that just wasn't my cup of tea. I could appreciate his talent but was ready to leave about 4 songs in. LOL

As a lover of blues guitar, he is one of my favorites. I'm not a huge fan of his voice, but just love his guitar. He is so talented. I also love his stuff with Beth Hart and Black Country Communion.
