Big Brother 23 Premiere!!! (Spoilers included!)

And so it begins. Another eighty some days of being glued to the live feeds as a group of strangers take over our lives. And it all starts tonight at 8:00 PM ET.

On tonight's show we'll see Julie make her first official appearance as the host of BB 23. We'll get the usual nonsense about the best cast ever, the most amazing twists ever, and the old expect the unexpected. But tonight is not the normal show format. Tonight we see the hamsters er, houseguests enter the house live on the show. Something the fans have wanted since year one. We typically join the cast about a week to ten days into their adventure with alliances already formed and typically one or more houseguests already gone. Not this year. This year we get to see it all (or nearly all) from the very beginning.

We don't know everything that will happen tonight but based on what we do know and past history, we can make some pretty good guesses. We know the houseguests will be brought on stage and sent into the house four at a time. Immediately upon entering the house those four will compete against one another in a comp of some sort and one of the four will become a team captain of one of the four teams of players.

Will we see the traditional, 'the fans are stupid enough to believe this' key reveal where the prospective houseguests are stunned to find their key to the BB house while coincidentally being followed by a BB camera crew and production team? I don't know. We didn't see the typical hiring of temporary filming staff in the player's cities, but production knows BB fans watch for that, so maybe they did it on the down low this year. Or maybe they've decided the whole key finding thing was overdone.

How will each group of four to enter the house be divided? CBS likes equality so will each group be all boy or all girl so they know there will be two boy captains and two girl captains? Or will they send in a mix of boys/girls and let the best person win. (Note: If you believe their preshow interviews, very few of the boys want to win out of the gate. They want to slide by on their charm and personality without revealing their true ability.) If the teams of four are mixed, then don't be surprised to find four girl captains.

Once all sixteen houseguests have entered and all four team captains are selected, a ninety second clip of each of the noncaptains will be played for the captains to help them determine which of the twelve remaining players they should add to their team. Once again with CBS being all for equality, each team must have two guys and two gals. Expect this to be the classic schoolyard pick type scene with Britini, Frenchie, and maybe Derek F being among the last players picked. (Assuming none of them are team captians.) They're the least physically impressive players.

Since tonight's show is only ninety minutes, don't expect to see Julie engage Britini in any questioning. Britini suffers from severe diarrhea of the mouth. She will easily win the award for the most words spoken in the BB23 house this year, if she holds true to what we've seen preshow. The media Q&A that took place recently had about ten questions for each houseguest. Britini used up nearly all of her time on the first few questions leaving much unasked and unanswered. She doesn't give short, concise answers to questions.

Once the four captains have been picked and the teams selected, it'll be time for the first HOH comp of the year. The four captains will be the only ones eligible to compete. The team of the winning captain will all be safe this week. Lucky them! The other twelve houseguests will all be at risk. Julie will then make the first HOH an offer he/she can't refuse. They will be offered a "double or nothing" option. We don't know what that will mean, but supposedly the HOH will accept it. My best guess is the HOH will win $1 million if they make it to the end and win the game, but have to make some sort of sacrifice to earn it. Likely not compete in any future HOH comps or maybe POV comps.That would force them to rely completely on their social skills in the game.

And that should end tonight's show. There will be no Thursday show this week as there won't be enough time for production to film/edit enough stuff for another hour long show already tomorrow. We will get a Sunday show however and then next week the typical Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday schedule resumes with every show starting at 8:00 PM ET.

The live feeds won't start until after the West Coast airing so at 12:35 AM ET or so, the live feeds should start. I will be sleeping since my cats like to get me up between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM. I will start watching the live feeds once awake however. There will be a three hour hole in what we know on the live feeds as there's a three hour time difference between the East Coast and West. So, the houseguests will have three hours unmonitored. In that time they'll likely have the typical livingroom round table chat with champagne about who they are and who everyone else is. They'll likely spend much of the time examining the house, picking bedrooms, and unpacking. BB will also likely use those three hours to instruct them in proper microphone management and remind them of the house rules.

So it all begins again tonight. Eighty-some days of watching people who are strangers now say and do things they probably shouldn't say or do. We'll see preshow favorites disappoint us. Someone who was largely ignored soar to prominence. The houseguest popularity chart on sites will fluctuate wildly over the next few days/weeks as we learn who these people truly are. Get ready for a wild ride. It all starts tonight.

FINALLY! I have been trying to get on here for a couple weeks but it wouldn't let me. Called customer service and they said they were aware that there is a problem and IT is working on it. We'll see how long this lasts.

Anyway, I'm excited for BB to start tonight and will try to keep up with it.

I wanted to sign up for Paramount + but so far no luck. My son's best friend added him and me to Netflix. If you have Netflix they have many options to sign up for. I've tried twice but it's not working for me. Typed in my name and all the other pertinent stuff and when I hit continue it reverts to his name and obviously I don't want him paying for it and I have no idea how to fix it.

@sabra Hello my friend! I wish they'd figure out the problem here. So many people are having problems signing in.

I also had a problem with signing up for Paramount+. It kept saying my email was already in use and wouldn't let me sign up with it. It had to do with my old All Access account that was apparently still on record. I had to call customer service to get it resolved.

You may already be aware of this but I just recently learned about two things Derrick Levasseur has going on. The first one, which started last December, is called "Crime Weekly." It's a podcast he hosts it with a woman named Stephanie Harlowe. I just listened to the first episode from 12/4 and it was very good.

For the second one he's teaming up with his fellow hitman, Cody Califiore, on youtube. The channel is called "The Winner's Circle." I read their first show will be after the first eviction on July 15th. I'm kind of surprised they aren't starting with the premiere so I subscribed so I'll be notified when they upload.

Hi everyone. First of all...Many thanks to gardenman for being our team captain. Ive been enjoying reading your posts for many years.

There seems to be a lot of contestants this year with some smarts. I hope they use them. I could make other comments about the houseguests, but I'm going to hold off on my opinions for now, lol. However, I am looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks.

I hope this turns about to be an interesting and fun BB summer!

I know those in the west haven't seen it yet, so I won't post any spoilers. But I will say I thought the show dragged on painfully long.

And for me, and I realize this is extremely superficial, but the best thing about the live broadcast is seeing what Julie is wearing, the dress, the shoes, the jewelry.

@gardenman I'm rather new to your threads, but I see that this is apparently the place to be for all things Big Brother!

My observation from last night is.....don't they tell or at least suggest to the female contestants for the first night maybe not to wear heels and dresses? Especially dresses with high slits, etc. Several kicked off their shoes, guys included on this point, and it looked awkward when the girls were running around and such to play the games.

Or do they always dress to impress the first night? I see some guys just wore shorts. 👣👠👡👗

The houseguests are typically told how to dress for comps. Especially on the live Thursday shows. Last night's comp wasn't especially physical so they weren't given special dressing instructions. Given how quickly they all knew what to do, it was pretty obvious they'd all been given a walkthrough of the comp before the show. Had any of them wanted to change clothes beforehand they could have, but they all knew what they were getting into.

If you took someone off the street and plopped them in the backyard with the limited instruction they got on TV, they'd be standing there saying, "What?" The houseguests knew what to do, where their buzzers were, and how the comp worked, so they'd all had a walkthrough well before the live show. If you remember, the people upstairs were cheering on some of the players downstairs by name, so they'd already had some initial contact with each other, likely in the walkthrough, and at least knew some of the others by name.

I've watched every season. I've watched the live feeds from season six on. I hang out on the various BB forums online also and follow multiple past houseguests on social media.

I thought the premier was kind of boring. I do like Frenchie, but can't help but think he put a huge target on his back with those wins. He must have a very good group of friends to be away from his working farm for potentially 90 days.

Do you really think that the Kings Team (I think that's who came in 4th) threw the comp? That never works out well.

Did they throw it? We'll find out in the DRs. The other teams didn't have an issue holding the completed puzzles, but their team let it fall twice. It's very possible they threw it.

I see some hair loss on the right side near your temple. It's hard to tell from a photo but it looks pretty full on the top. With that million dollar smile and a necklace that looks like it came from the Queen's personal jewelry box who's looking at your hair anyway?

I can't say enough about the photo. You're so pretty and have such a look of happiness on your face. You sure look like you know how to have fun! Thank you for sharing it with me/us.
