"Jessica Fletcher" is 95 yrs old today! I love her, the films she has been in, and most of all Murder She Wrote. She was perfectly cast in that role.

Good for her for making it to 95 yrs. It must be that fresh air in Cabot Cove, Maine and all that jogging she did that made her so healthy as to live this long. 😄 May she have many more birthdays.

She has had a very long and successful career in movies, stage and TV. Happy Birthday!

She was memorable in the original The Manchurian Candidate.

@Pearlee - I love Angela Lansbury in Murder She Wrote. Like you said, she was perfectly cast in that role. Also enjoyed her in Blue Hawaii, playing Elvis Presley's mother. We share the same first name!

Regarding Jessica Fletcher, I've wondered, why Jess didn't come under suspicion, as a clever serial killer? I mean, she wrote murder mysteries, and, the woman couldn't go anywhere, without, as least one person, being murdered!

How suspicious would that be?

She was a standout, right from the start. From "Gaslight", "The Picture of Dorian Gray", "The State of the Union", all the way through "The Manchurian Candidate" and beyond.

So versatile-- stock villainess, ingenue, mature temptress, scheming political aspirant, sociopath, lovable and quirky sleuth. A fabulous career.

@SuhseK. Jessica F was accused by law enforcement of being the murderer in a couple of episodes (and even jailed for a while for committing the murder in one I can think of) although not episodes that took place in Cabot Cove where Amos Tupper and Mort knew her character was too upright to suspect her.

Happy Birthday Angela. I watch every night at 11:00pm on the Hallmark Channel. She is a very versatile actress. I love when she plays her cousin on the show.

Loved her, and loved the three movies you mention. Oldies but goodies.

As the maid in Gaslight, she was the perfect "tart." Such an angelic face, however. And the picture you posted is amazing!

The first time I saw "The Picture of Dorian Gray" I was really creeped out! Such a timeless story.

"The Manchurian Candidate" is another that made my skin crawl. Cannot watch it anymore!

@Witchy Woman, Hurd Hatfield, who broke her heart in Dorian Gray, was in at least one Murder She Wrote which was on not too long ago. Similarly, her co-star in the play, Sweeney Todd, had a recurring role in MSR as Michael Haggerty, the spy. Jerry Orbach also had a recurring role and I figure she must have known him from the theater also. I think she took care of her friends.

I watch Murder She Wrote every morning, and several episodes each weekend. Saturdays, I believe.

Anyway, my mom and dad loved that show, too. I often recall my dad calling out to my mom: 'Murder She Wrote' is starting'.
