Below Deck Med Last Night - Anyone Watching?

BDM started last night after the reunion for Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

Captain Sandy is back as well as Hannah as chief stew. Malia is back as bosun and the rest of the cast is new, including the chef.

I had to laugh when the show began and Captain Sandy made a comment about why she brought Hannah back, despite their issues last year. My first thought was you brought her back because it's a tv show and she is under contract. You had no choice. LOL

The stew from Italy seems like she may be problematic. She already has quite an attitude and I think that may stem from the fact she was a chief stew in the past. That never seems like a good idea.

The boat this year looks nicer than any of them in the past and it's huge. Much bigger than usual.

Love me some Capt Sandy - she is an inspiration, and yea, agreed, Hannah and the contract thing makes sense...but Hannah also makes for good TV, (she's moody, cries when she likes a boy *how silly* and is easily threatened by smart staff)!

I do miss the days when Kelley Johnson was on, he was gorgeous...just sayin!

I watched (as well as the reunion for BDSY). I'm probably in the minority but I just don't care for Sandy whatsoever. She's a micro manager about everything. After last night, I have serious doubts if I can stomach her for a full season or not. Besides Sandy, I wasn't a fan of Malia from a few seasons ago. I hope she's matured a lot. I can't keep the three male deckhands straight. Yes, Lara came in with a chip on her shoulder and she'll be trouble the whole season....if she makes it that long. Was the chef really putting out bad food or was that one charter guest just being a pain? I thought Sandy ate one of the shrimps from the first meal and said it was good.

I can't imagine Captain Lee getting all wrapped up in the table settings ~ what is that all about? Looks like they have horrible, cheap stuff to work with ~ so Hannah has her hands tied. Those 3 guys? Who in the world could keep them straight? Looks like one of them is particularly obnoxious with all the "sweetheart" talk.

Let's not have a repeat of the last season of BD ~ no more bros!

I haven't watched the first episode of the new season yet. Almost dreading it. I'm not Sandy's biggest fan. Don't totally dislike her, but don't like her either. Definitely prefer having Captain Lee. IIRC, the first season of Med had a new guy for captain. I guess he wasn't interesting enough for them to use him and then Sandy came along. TBH, I don't even remember anything about him, so there you go!

I would rather not have so much negative drama but I guess that's what sells so I will go ahead and expect it.

I DVR'd it, but haven't watched yet. I like Captain Sandy, but Hannah can get annoying. Wonder why Jaoa wasn't back as chief bosun. I thought he improved after his first season.

Sweetie dude (is his name Pete?) is obnoxious. Malia needed to stop that the first time it came out of his mouth.

Sandy did eat the shrimp dish and said it was delishes. And everyone else at the table loved the steak except for the one guest who thought it was dry. Sandy also tried it and said that was very good.

Oh, darn, I missed it.

There had been a BD "marathon" on and I watched that on and off while I was cleaning. Kate left the boat but came back, and that was the last episode I caught.

I know she is not well-liked, but I actually like her. She's a bit snippy, but she seems very concerned about how things go. Maybe I'm missing something. Most of the crew seem to think she is a b**ch.

Yea, I find Sandy annoying as heck, although even Captain Lee was beginning to get on my nerves at one point.

Will have to tune in to the new episodes!

@shoptilyadropagain I believe as you that it was only the one guest who complained about the food.

Makes for good TV. Someone has to be unhappy and I'm sure he's a qualified chef. lol.

I think they brought on another former Chief Stew for Hannah for more storyline and drama. We shall see how the season plays out.

Didn't know it was back... Seems like it just ended, though I more or less gave it up toward the end of last season. Not sure I'll tune in. Seems like most of Bravo's shows are growing long in the tooth for me and I've lost interest. I might tune in to see the new crew and decide then. The guests seem to get less appealing and more over the top every season and along with last year's less than likable crew, were a big part of the reason I lost interest... As for Sandy, meh, not her biggest fan... Run hot and cold where she's concerned...

Although I sometimes don't like crew members or guests, I always watch all the BD shows. I don't dislike Captain Sandy, but Hannah gets on my nerves at times. I wonder if she'll be different this year as things have changed with her (that she talks about in the first episode but I don't want to spoil for others). That second stew seems like a handful and not someone I would want working for me. The chef is a cutie and despite that one guest complaining, seems to be putitng out good food so far. I wasn't thrilled with Malia returning as I didn't like her during her season, but she appears to have matured some. She should definitely have told that deckie not to call her sweetheart from the very first time he said it!

I'm watching. I watched all of Below Deck Sailing and wound up liking it more after that guy Parker left. At the Zoom Reunion show, Adam (chef) said that this was it for him. No more yachting. He and Jenna apparently weren't able to make their relationship last.

Anyway, about the new season, I was not a fan of Malia either. She may very well be capable, but she is so tiny compared to those beefy guys. I guess she is a compact power house. Yeah, the sweetie talk is gonna cause problems.

I like Captn. Sandy OK. She makes it a point to make sure the guests are getting what they pay for. Making sure the food is top notch and the service is first class. The 3 stews are an odd bunch. The chef Kiko might be interesting. He certainly seems very good natured and not uptight. Time will tell how this season goes.

i had seen that also @shoptilyadropagain on some bravo facebook fan pages. what is the name of the below deck group on facebook? there are some really rabid fans and rabid haters in some of these groups.

i thought that the first episode was good. the one guy though was annoying, especially since EVERYONE enjoyed the food (maybe not the wait) and he was the only one that didnt.

kiko has a strong accent.....it was funny listening to him try to say "cheeks."
