Project Runway Season 18 MAR 5 (Episode 13) - Spoilers Included

I’m baaaaack! I pulled a calf muscle skiing and came back with a cold, but I’m ready for Project Runway.

I’m still blown away that this season was still in production when Fashion Wee began. Fashion Week was a few weeks ago and I did take a look at Christian’s show and what they showed is the current show. Also, the thought that Christian was putting together his show and doing this show at the same time is amazing to me.

Not sure about doing critiques this week. They usually do a runway show of a couple of their looks and get critiques after which the go back and end up changing a lot. So, I’m just going to go ahead and put this thread up without waiting for the runway show.

I don't really see the rule change Karlie made as much of a change in rules. They judges have always had the option of keeping all the designers. The only real change would be if they only kept two of them for the Finale.

Ok as usual I have to go find it On Demand as I slept thru most of it but was lucky enough to catch the entire runway show and I have to say Nancy must have been sandbagging all season as if I didn't know it was her collection I never would have thought it was hers. She had my favorite dress and I hope she goes through to the finals and if her collection is along the lines of what I saw last night she's my picker for the overall winner.

I don't know what it is about this show that ALWAYS puts me to sleep. I dozed off n on, mostly off, the only part I actually remember seeing is when they all re-joined up in NYC w/their collections wrapped in bags and boxes. And it was hard to tell what they had w/the stuff just hanging on the racks. Saw the brief snippet of Christians show. Some odd stuff and some nice stuff. I agree in that I have no idea how he managed to come up with a season's worth of his personal stuff and mentor these designers at the same time.

I will either watch ON Demand or catch the replay next week, but I don't mind reading spoilers and the thoughts of others.

I thought they all did a good job, but my top designers were Sergio and Nancy. I'm just worried that Nancy put her best looks on the runway and may not have enough left to wow the judges. And, when the model took that collar off, the dress was just so-so to me besides that gorgeous liquid looking fabric. I've seen that dress, and it's nothing special.

Sorry Geoffry, but I don't like puffer coats, never have even when they were a thing and not oversized. I didn't catch what Brandon said when his first look came down the runway. I even rewound and still couldn't hear it. Was it something about it being very futuristic?

Victoria's just kinda looked like a mish mash to me. But, since she has separates, she might could just shop her "closet", rearrange, and come up with a winning combination.

@jellyBEAN I watched Christian's entire show on New York Fashion Week's website. Not live, and it may still be up if you want to watch it. It's rather long, like 30 to 40 minutes if I remember correctly. There was some beautiful stuff, but also some really odd stuff that I thought seemed to come directly from a PR designer. That black dress with the huge triangular white bodice I thought we had seen something very similar to on this season actually. He really liked to use those S&M dog collars too.

I stayed up and watched because I know if I lay in bed I won't last ten minutes.

They all received good and much needed critique on the three designs each presented I think.

Sergio was being Sergio slightly toned down now from when the show started I think. He has too many causes that inspire his designs and they are all starting to lose me in what exactly he is trying to design and who he is.

Victoria - is still a hit or miss for me. Her three designs looked more like what you would have seen maybe in the earlier episodes not the big finale. I was not impressed.

Geoffrey - interesting but he needs to tweak and rework some of his designs. He is a wreck and emotionally I don't know if he can handle winning. They better have EMS onsite during the finale runway.

Nancy - omg she had so many designs completed when Christian arrived I had to laugh it looked like a store rather than her apartment. She does tend to overwork her designs but I like her she seems so down to earth and sincere.

I have to admit....I wasn't that impressed with anything from the pre-runway show. I also didn't get to watch the home visits so didn't see much else besides their three they chose for the runway.

I was sooo pulling for Geoffrey but didn't care for his puffers nor anything else that I saw from his collection. I liked (and I hate to admit it) a lot of Victoria's separates except a lot of it wasn't the best construction I'd ever seen. I think the judges even said something to her about it. The color palette was pretty bland also. I just adore Nancy as a person and she occasionally does something I like but, overall, I'm not crazy about her designs. As much as I can't stand Sergio, I've loved "most" of his work but wasn't blown away with anything of his.

It will be interesting to see who is chosen and to see the rest of their collection(s).

@DearPrudence - I was laughing and said the same thing about Geoffrey wearing the Village People outfit. I think I even did the YMCA moves like they did in the video.

I was wondering why Victoria was ok to use the accessories. Her mother made them. It doesn't seem fair to the other designers but then again she has gotten away with everything.

This whole series has been terrible!! The "designers", students, really, none of them really stand out. Why they keep Victoria, is beyond me. She's terrible & her attitude, is sour!

The only thing I like is see what Carlie Kloss will be wearing. She's so attractive & I love her style, most of the time.

@elated there are rules that cover that, and it's not the first time a contestant has hired a family member. I'm not sure what the rules are as far as compensation to the family member is concerned, but they do have to pay for the materials. They have to provide receipts for everything. On one of the old seasons of PR, one of the contestants had to cut some things out of his show because he lost some of his receipts.

I felt like every week he was dressing as a different Village Person.

Last year someone did some weave thing that their relative helped with and used it in all of their designs.

Victoria's logo. Right across the backside on the suit. In bright green. Tacky and opportunistic. And not even a cute fashiony looking logo. Looked to me like it belonged to an eco coffee filter brand or something.

I am sorry for Geoffrey having hurt his knee. I just wish he could have done some work while he was healing. At least drawing and conceptual work. The injury put him so far behind.

Not sure who I like the best now, based on their runway clothes. I assumed I'd be blown away by Geoffrey and or Sergio, and I wasn't, quite.

I loved Nancy's liquid dress. Wish she had more like that.

I may have not been paying enough attention, but what is that black leather strap contraption that Geoffry wears like a vest? I don't think I'd want that thing in my armpits, but that's just me!

@aubnwa01 I didn't get a close look at it either, but I'm guessing it holds often used items, sorta like a carpenter's belt. I noticed he pulled it off at the end of the work day, much like a woman pulls off her bra when she gets home, and left it in the work room.

I'm conflicted again. Still don't like Victoria but Sergio has gotten a bit better but he needs to decide if he wants to be a designer or a crusader. I think we will see totally different things at fashion week as they change things up based on the critiques.
