@ALRATIBA Even tho it's a year and a half old (this program) this music is timeless. I'm 72 and lived most of my life in So. Cal. I grew up on folk, surf music, rock and roll, doo wop, and Motown. No better music, IMO.

the 1950s was truly a golden age for music lovers. Doo-Wop music was a prequel to rock and roll. I still play "Sh-Boom" by the Chords frequently. Sadly children today have no idea what music was like.

I went to a doo wop concert about 4 years ago and had seats in the front row, it was so much fun.

I did the meet and greet before the show and met some great ones. My favorite kind of music.

Jay & the Americans singing what was it called 'Cara Mia' ? Has anybody carried a note for a whole minute like that ever. What a talent !

That whole CD of oldies is so good. 'Walking in the Rain', 'Let's Lock the Door', etc.

When I first heard Sha Boom the Crew-Cuts sang it. It was a hit and I liked it. However, in time I heard it by the original group, the Chords as you mentioned. I absolutely loved it and in my opinion sang far better by a group who also had a hit with it . I think at the time some songs weren't sung by those who should have had the hit. I am glad I heard the originals, so much better.

You are right about the fifties being the golden age of rock and roll and I too still play my oldies and bask in so many wonderful memories!

It didn't play in my area this weekend, but will play next Sat. While looking for this show, I discovered "Aloha From Hawaii" being on next Sun. on PBS.

Every generation often says that about the music they grew up on and the younger generations often say that about the old people's music. Sadly, there is music from all generations and genres that is great and so many have closed minds to even listen to it!!! I am 66 and my favorite is good old rock and roll. I do not like polka music, twangy country, females singing opera and hard core rap but like most everything else.

Doo Wop was my aunt's (who lived with us for a couple of years) music and I have such good memories of that time.

Doo-wop is rock and roll. R&B is the precursor to rock and roll. @Reever
