If so what are some of your favorite series?

I am enjoying Miss Friman's War set in Sweden.

WYCC offers international drama/mystery series (all sub-titled) from different parts of the world.

I watch WYCC all the time, and really enjoy the foreign programming. Very few endless car or foot chases, interesting story lines and real looking actors. Some of my favorite series are - Beck, Brunetti, Weissensee Saga, and many others.
