It seems Sony has two objectives

1. to lower cost. by getting rid of well paid actors

2. to update in changing the concept of family... no more traditional father and mother

it is now yours, mine, and ours as well as two daddies or two mommies and soon to add sperm donor....

Oh good grief .... they are ALL well paid, but there are several actors on that show that make much more $$$ than Christian. ANY TV production is about RATINGS and if the ratings are great, the advertisers paying more covers many times the production costs.

Sony is a billion dollar corporation, and cutting one person's salary on the top American soap is WAY less than even one drop in the bucket!

Story lines play out ...... and maybe they've gone as far as they can with the Michael and Lauren thing ....... so what?

It's just a SOAP ..... not real life.

Has Christian or anyone else said he's leaving? I know a lot of people think he is being pushed out but I haven't heard anything definite one way or the other. Lots of characters have cancer and win an Emmy for it and then they are just fine and never suffer the repercussions nor is it ever mentioned again. Just about every soap kid I've watched has had a transplant of some kind and never mention it or suffer from it as adults. Maybe it's just a heavy storyline?

Why get so upset things are changing some will be surprised, others will be unhappy, etc and some will have joy! some still like to think Art imitates life, but is now the other way around.. has been for a long time now...

Soaps have changed a lot over the last 70 years... Soap use to promote good values, now they are filled with many floundering souls and many of the viewer feel comfortable around them... all that once did exist, that had an ounce of character is being rooted out...

Man is flawed, but once upon a time he was always trying to his best, now it is what ever.... and when some point this out there will be those who get upset.....

Our life is a dream; our time, as a stream,
Glides swiftly away,
And the fugitive moment refuses to stay,
The arrow is flown, the moment is gone;

Once the time has pass one cannot get it back nor have second chance...

First of all, I'm not the least bit "upset".

Secondly, soaps were created as dramatic shows (advertisers were all laundry SOAP corporations) and never "promoted" good values. Anyone who thinks any TV show is a model for how to live their life is an idiot. It's all FICTION .... and entertainment.

I know the soap history it started on radio Rinso White, Rinso bright, when those principles were being promoted and also carried over to early days of TV.

but the climate has changed over the years lets not be a revisionist....
