TNT's FRANKLIN & BASH Cancelled

It’s case closed for Franklin & Bash. The TNT buddy-legal series has been cancelled by the cable channel after four seasons and 40 episodes.

Franklin & Bash revolves around two unconventional lawyers and best friends who end up being hired at a prestigious law firm. This season, they end up running the place. The most recent cast includes Breckin Meyer, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dana Davis, Kumail Nanjiani, Malcolm McDowell, Reed Diamond, and Toni Trucks.

For whatever reason, the series was way down in season four, averaging 1.16 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was down more than 45% when compared to season three’s ratings (which were also way down).

In addition, Turner Broadcasting President David Levy has said that the cable channel is now focusing on airing more “edgy” shows — like Legends and Public Morals.

The fourth season finale aired on October 22nd and will end up being the show’s series finale as well.

What do you think? Did you like Franklin & Bash on TNT? Why do you think the ratings fell so dramatically? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season? Would you watch it on another channel?

I loved Franklin and Bash the first season. Then they brought on Heather Locklear, and she added nothing.

Then they dropped the regular characters and brought in new ones, and it just was not a good funny show anymore.

My husband still watched. I gave up.

I'm not sure what it was about this last season...I only watched it sporadically and then decided to DVR in season 3 (just for something light and fun.). I watched and liked all of last season, but after watching a couple of episodes in year 4, I just started to delete the episodes when they shoes up. I think they kept changing it too much year after year.

Wow, that's a shocker. I thought it did well (well, as well as a show can do on that channel, vs network channels or more prominent cable channels).

I would totally continue watching the show if another channel bought it.

I really liked the show and watched it from the beginning. Oh well, still plenty o tv to watch, eh?

Franklin & Bash was quirky and fun in the first two years, but Heather Locklear's addition to the cast marked the beginning of The Great Decline. That's ironic because Locklear was brought in to boost ratings, given her track record on Dynasty and Melrose Place. The Show Saver couldn't salvage F&B. I'm a fan who didn't watch during the Locklear seasons and I was glad when they announced her departure. Unfortunately, the new blonde's personality is virtually identical. The other new characters added nothing and Infeld just got crazier by the year. It was good for half the time it lasted. At least we have those memories.

You said what I was thinking, but much more articulately. I stopped watching the show after the second episode of season three.

I only watched this show a couple of times but it seemed Ally McBealish to me and I've been there, done that. It just didn't hold my interest.

I DVR'd this season and I could see why it was cancelled. This show was doomed because the characters are so unbelievable. To me the show really had no premise. It is no surprise they cancelled the show.

I agree that Heather Locklear added absolutely NOTHING to the show. I had even forgotten that she was on it. I really like MPG and the little bitty guy (why can't I ever remember his name??). They were fun together. It was just a silly show - not to be taken seriously.

It's Breckin Meyer (a.k.a. chickenbutt's "little bitty guy"). To me, he looks like Bill Maher's long lost son, especially around the nose and hairline.
