I wonder why ALL the police type TV shows are always about murder?

There are so many other crimes and I'm sure they could make interesting stories as well. I'm tired of watching shows about murder all the time. One of the things I enjoy about NCIS LA is they often are investigating other crimes like spying or gun running etc.

I don't watch them. Knowing so many first responders - these shows tend to skew people's perception of the reality of crime and what first responders go through. I know these shows are entertaiment factors so I try not to think too much into their meaning. The real news is bad enough. Sometimes skewed as well. I tend to watch RomComs, older shows (Frasier, Arrested Development) and current shows like Modern Family, Big Bang and Sheldon. CNN and the news provides enough reality. Todays news - not so good. My heart goes out to Jefferson County in Colorado. May 2019 bring peace.

The show Murder She Wrote appealed to me because it wasn't so graphic. Now they show autopsies which I don't like. Quincy was an older show about a medical examiner and I didn't even watch it.

I’ve never watched the ‘fictional’ first responder shows.

OK...maybe back in high school with Adam-12, Emergency!,

Barney Miller & Colombo (!), but nothing else.

I’m a HUGE LivePD & First 48 gal. Real footage.

As for why fictional programs always focus on murder?

How else will the actors stretch their dramatic acting chops

and fine tune their ‘blue steel’ look when it’s just a traffic stop?

LOL I’m a few episodes behind in The Rookie and I like it enough. But, I couldn’t help but think about such hair raising things happening every single day to each team. One would think somebody would have a slow day sometime. But, it seems like these police - including three rookies - are constantly pulling out their guns!

(I’m probably exaggerating a little, but not much!!)
