This is going to be an interesting season. I agree with Maggie's decision, and I say it's about time that so and so was done away with.

Overall, I liked the episode. It reminded me of the earlier episodes of seasons one and two. People actually having conversations and interacting with each other.

I like that they're finally addressing the deterioration of highways/roads and bridges, fuel/gas running out.

Loved that Daryl is finally having some dialogue than just grunting. He probably spoke more last night than he did all of last season. Loved the conversation between he and Carol.

I like that Carol is with Ezekiel, they seem like a good match. Loved how he called her 'Lady' Carol. How sweet was it that she asked Jerry to look after him? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jerry!! I hope they give him more scenes this season.

Rick expecting the Hilltop and the other communities to still be helping the Saviors after 18 months is absurd. Are they really that helpless that they can't stand on their own and take care of themselves?

Gregory was a backstabbing, sniveling snake, but he was a really good villain. I don't blame Maggie for what she did, but I'll kind of miss the 'ol weasel.

It was nice that they gave an 'In Memoriam' to Scott Wilson.

And speaking of Scott Wilson,

I read that he already filmed his upcoming cameo. It'll be nice to see Hershel one last time, but it'll be bittersweet.

I see more drama happening than in the past few seasons (it was all about Negan then.) I liked the various storylines.

I never had a feeling for Maggie's character one way or the other; however, she has really become a hardnosed you-know-what! I agree with her that Gregory needed to go. My husband said 'he's a pot stirrer' and he hit the nail on the head.

I get Daryl's feelings - he liked the closeknit small group they once were. I don't think he's cut out to be 'in charge' of any of the groups. He's funny because even though he doesn't like being around all of those people, he still has the need for people, so I don't think he can run away like Morgan did.

Richonne - They both have 'take charge' attitudes but it's resulting in their butting heads with others, like Maggie.

Carol and the King are so cute together! I loved his reaction when she told him to put that ring away when he asked her to marry him. I hope she doesn't get in over her head with the Saviors, although she can definitely hold her own.

I like the overall feel of the show - it seems cohesive, easy to understand what's going on and has an air of optimism, even though there's alot of drama taking place.

I fell asleep for the first time in 9 seasons. Kind of dozed throughout, and not because I was tired.

I was never a fan of Maggie and will not miss her when she leaves for a new series on primetime TV.

I always thought Carol would end up with Ezekiel; it was obvious he admired her right from the beginning. Sweet.

I was hoping to see Dwight; I know Daryl told him never to come back but it would have been nice to see him reunite with his wife since she is still alive. I always felt sorry for him regardless of his actions.

Tara and Jesus are dead weights, imo.

Norman Reedus is in negotiations to become the lead once Andrew Lincoln leaves, so I would imagine his role will be more as a leader. I agree he misses the closeness of a small group, though.

The Whisperers will be the new antagonists, with Samantha Morton (Harlots) being the alpha.

Jadis (Anne) sure looked different.

And finally, I still miss Carl. He was supposed to take over the lead from Rick and I think that storyline would have held more interest that seeing Daryl. Carl "got it" more than Daryl and Maggie ever did.

I didn't watch Talking Dead.

Daryl and Carol were so close in the earlier days and then the storyline just had them drift apart all of a sudden. I looked at Carol as almost a mother figure or big sister for Daryl more than a love interest anyway, since Daryl lost Meryl and their childhood had been a big mess. Carol brough stability to Daryl.

I will miss Rick; he always tried to make a deal regardless of how serious a situation would be, to try to work things out to have peace. This is where Carl would have taken over nicely. Idiot producers killling off Carl.

I wonder how Hershel, Sasha, and Shane will fit in. My guess is that Rick will see them when he dies, the way Tyrese saw Beth, Noah, Mikka and Lizzie as he was dying.

Although I would think Rick would see Carl and Lori first.

I still get upset when I see the episode when Tyrese died and they placed his knitted cap on the cross on his grave. Judith survived because of Tyrese.

A few scenes seemed obligatory, a little tedious, but other than that it looks promising. I like Maggie's role, she's kicking rear end without going over the edge -- so far. The show could use some new strong characters.

@Cakers3 I was never a big fan of Maggie either and I won't miss her in the least. It has been confirmed that her character will NOT be killed off. Lauren will only be in 6 episodes this season, but she said she would like to come back and the showrunners have stated they would love to have her back. Maybe if her new show (Whiskey Cavalier) gets canceled she'll come back full time next year.

I couldn't agree more about Tara. I never, ever liked her character. She adds nothing to the storyline, but I disagree about Jesus. I like the him - he has some good fighting skills.

I was really intrigued with Jadis from the beginning. The stupid way she talked like a five year old (in an interview, Pollyanna McIntosh surmised that her character talked that way to intimidate people) was really annoying though. I hope we get the backstory of why she and her people were living in a trash heap. Obviously they were really living in an underground bunker, or a bunker that was disguised with all that trash. But why? And what's the deal with the helicopter she was trying to signal? If her real name is Anne, why did she call herself Jadis? In last night's episode, it was interesting that Jadis mentioned she had been to the Smithsonian Museum before when she was still a teacher. A teacher - who woulda thought? Why did she call herself Jadis if her real name is Anne? I think she's a really fascinating character and I'm really hoping for that backstory on her.

Carl. Still can't believe they killed him off. I always thought he would be with the show to the very end. I read that Andrew Lincoln was seriously thinking of leaving the show last year, but then changed his mind. Had they planned for Rick to die (or somehow leave the show) and when Andy decided to stay, kill off Carl instead? It seemed odd because Chandler Riggs gave an interview and said he was blindsided by Carl getting killed off. The producers told him they wanted him for the next three seasons and he just bought a house in the area, then they fire him.

On talking dead, Daryl said he couldn't see himself on a podium making speeches when his being a leader was mentioned, and one of the writers , producers, said that he could, so maybe that was a hint of what was to come.

I thought when Shane was around that he was a better leader than Rick, had more knowledge and common sense of how things were, and then Daryl than Rick, but of course Shane took himself out that night by attacking Rick, .

Lincoln has implied a possible deathless departure for his character, Rick Grimes. While he didn't outright reveal Rick's survival, Lincoln did imply that the former cop could come out of the apocalypse alive. While speaking at a conference at San Diego Comic-Con, Lincoln noted that Rick could certainly die as many before him have, but that there were other options. He then promised that however his character left the show, it was going to be quite special.

So Rick might not actually die? I can't see him just going off and leaving Michonne behind. And what about Judith? I can't see him ever leaving her and I can't see him leaving the relative safety of Alexandria and hit the road with a small child. I think Rick will die and Andrew Lincoln was just blowing smoke.

What I really can't understand is why the show decided to spill the beans about Andrew Lincoln even leaving the show?! It would've been very difficult, if not impossible, to keep the secret but they certainly didn't have to advertise it months in advance. Imagine the shock of seeing him die (or leave the community) if you hadn't known beforehand!

@mousiegirl I agree Shane had more knowledge and common sense about how things had gone down with this zombie apocalypse. Rick, of course, woke up after the beginning had gone down and had a major learning curve to catch up about how things were. So Shane really had an advantage over Rick in that respect.

Plus Rick wearing his uniform up until the farm storyline. It was though he couldn't "get it"-that nothing would ever be the same.

I didn't like the way they made Shane out to be ready to kill Rick over Lori, though. She wasn't all that. LOL

I have been an avid WD fan since the beginning. A few of the storylines were just so so to me but did not stop me from watching or buying some of their mechandise. I for one am a fan of Maggie and enjoyed her new hard ****** attitude. I will be sorry to see her go. I am not fond ot the Carol and King relationship. Just seems stupid. Of course I always wanted her and Daryl to get together. I like the guy from Alexandria that she was with until he turned and had to be killed. I quite watching Fear the Walking Dead when they killed Madison. I am not upset that Rick is leaving but whether or not I remain a fan will remain to be seen. It has really gone a different direction from the comics.

I can't imagine Michonne leaving the series-any hints out there? I find her stronger than Maggie ever was. So Rick leaving without her and Judith would be a real hat trick to pull off. Unless all three leave together but that's dangerous for Judith.

I would think Shane fits in with a dream with Rick.

Sasha I have no idea since Tyrese, Bob, and Abraham are also dead.

Hershel-yes, he would fit in with Maggie and wee Hershel. Miss him, too.

@Free2be I think Michonne is the stronger of the two. Maggie runs on emotion about Glenn. Understandable, but she seems to feel she's the only one who suffered.

Michonne would be a better leader-justice tempered with mercy. I don't see that in Maggie.

Ok now Jadis-and that nice clean bunker. I've wondered if she was part of the military since she knew about the helicopter and skirted around the issue of the helipad with Simon.

I've wondered how this all came about since this virus or whatever was never explained-or did I miss it. It's as though the gov't knew and kept it a secret and the virus got out. Just like "The Stand" (Stephen King) where that virus leaked out of the CDC.

Jadis did say she had been a teacher but when?

Somebody somewhere set this apocalypse off-and the gov't would be the first one in my guess.

btw: If you've even seen Hap and Leonard on Sundance TV, Pollyanna McIntosh was in the first season and played a real psycho.

Great thread, read all the posts.

I agree with everyone, in general, this was a good episode. It was fun to watch where everyone is after a year and a half post Negan.

But Maggie. I liked the conversation she had with Rick. It looks like the Saviors are not going to assimilate. Maggie is tired of carrying their load. Seems things for the Hilltop haven't changed much, they are still providing for the Saviors. I get it, Rick doesn't. So there's a wedge right there.

Previews of the next episode looks like the Saviors are not with the program.

Daryl wants out and Rick is clueless.

If I didn't know about Rick Grimes leaving, I wouldn't think twice about the Saviors going bad, or Daryl wanting out & Maggie standing firm. But now I see while there is still loyalty to Rick, people are not looking to him as a leader.

If Negan gets his way, Rick's head will be on a stake, he pretty much told Simon as much when Simon suggested all of Alexandria be wiped out.

So will Rick be exiled? Walker bit? Leave in the helicopter?

If he dies, it better be epic!
