The Menedez Brothers on ID

NBC will be airing an 8 part series about this case, check your local listings for times. Law and Order True Crime...starring Edie Falco.

I just finished watching an hour episode of another show about them on Discovery ID. Boy were their parents a hot mess. The father got them out of any kind of trouble by paying people off. The parents used to do their homework for them. They'd still flunk their courses. What kind of parent does their kids' homework? Didn't know mom was an alcoholic and was abused by the father either.

I never did really follow that case, but I have a renewed interest in it now.

Blood Ties: The Menendez Brothers

@itiswhatitis I'm with you that I didn't really follow the case at the time -- I clearly remember their names, but none of the details. If done well, it would be interesting to hear the true story.

I followed the case and I didn't buy the 'abuse' defense....

I think they were spoiled kids who thought that they were going to be cut off from the money...

I followed the case, too. It was so sad. At times I was so disgusted w/those boys and other times, wasn't sure about the abuse claims. They were such brats that I don't know if you could believe them about the abuse claims.

It was wrong of them to kill their parents, of course. However, I believed then and now that their father sexually tortured and raped them. I also believed then and now that their mother not only knew what her husband was doing but also enabled him.

What i can recall (will watch the entire series) when this happened, most of it was based on the kids (then) being raped repeatedly and dearest Mom never helped. I think one brother is married behind bars but again, this was many years ago Often wondered about them and what really took place.

Before they moved to CA, they lived in our community. One of my friends had a son who attended school with the boys. She remembered the father as being demanding and the mother as a social climber. She said the older brother was sly and sneaky, while the younger one sweet and not too bright.

Who is making money for the story?! What proof given that Father abused them? Or the Mother allowed? The brothers word? Why? Are they allowed any rights in prison?! Marriage?! Example of how dysfunctional system is. Shame on any channel showing this story.

Mabey, Father was demanding because those boys were troubled and unwilling to learn responsibility. Proves nothing.

The abuse defense was not the initial defense, but came when Leslie Abramson took over the defense after there was a mistrial. If there had been abuse by the parents, why was this not the initial defense, because it is not true, that's why. I can't believe these two are still getting the spotlight.

Lifetime made a movie of this incident. Why it has to be made again and EIGHT PARTS??? Like what? I certainly will not be watching.....old news just like the remake of the OJ incident.

@mousiegirl, also what I gathered from the ID show I watched was that by the time the first trial was over (hung jury) they were broke. The second trial was paid for by the Citizens of California. The high falutin lawyers were gone......

@SeaMaiden good thing is you don't have to watch it. I think (my opinion) is that they are trying to revive the Law and Order Franchise on NBC. The eight part series is airing on that channel.

According to the Lifetime movie version, the female curly haired atty represented one brother at both trials. She did so pro bono for the 2nd trial.

@itiswhatitis Leslie Abramson was a high falutin defense attorney, some said the best. Here is a link which addresses the fees.
