The Beach Boys:Making Pet Sounds

This documentary is on Showtime tonight at 8:00. This album is considered a masterpiece that was influenced by The Beatle's Rubber Soul. Paul McCartney has said without Pet Sounds there wouldn't have been a Sgt. Pepper. I thought some of you would be interested in this doc.

I've recorded it, only saw a smidge of it last night. But I have the Pet Sounds in DVD and in CD. Totally enjoyed it!!! They are a fabulous group, for now and always.

@Jordan2 Thanks for the heads up about this show. I watched it last night and it was really good! Wonderful hearing songs from Pet Sounds again.

I also highly recommend the movie about the Beach Boys that was out a couple of years ago - Love and Mercy - excellent film. I've seen it three times. Great music too of course.

I just finished watching this and I enjoyed it. I thought Brian seemed like he really enjoyed talking about the making of this album. It did sadden me though, seeing footage of Carl and Dennis, knowing they are no longer with us. Pet Sounds contains two of my favorite Beach Boy songs, Wouldn't It Be Nice and one of the greatest love songs, God Only Knows (which reminds me of Big Love with the late Bill Paxton).

@Jordan2 I agree - seeing the other brothers made me sad also.

I did enjoy it, as I posted above, but was glad it was only an hour. I think any more and I would have gotten bored.

I read Mike Love's autobiography a few months ago. What started out as a fun venture turned so bad by the end. Drugs, divorces, cheating, family feuds and the death of two of the original Beach Boys. The public benefited from their music but it came at a big price to Mike.
