Does Anyone Watch "The Affair" on Showtime?

If you watch "The Affair" on Showtime, what are you thinking of it this season?

As usual, with all the different points of view, it's complicated, but I'm not enjoying it very much. I think I hate all the characters this season!

I'm loving this show both this season and last!! I'm enjoying getting to know the characters more and I like the depth to Noah this season, which I did not feel last season!! I also enjoy both viewpoints because it made me realize that sometimes what I think or feel is viewed totally different from someone else's perspective! I know that may sound really simple but viewing the show made me stop and think 'well maybe they did not see the situation the way I did"

I love it!! Plus, it keeps me away from watching political stuff on the news, which is a much-needed break for me!!

Keep watching and try and enjoy it!!

I quit after the first show this season. The characters are not likeable people. I am sorry I ever invited them into my life. I am looking forward to the return of "Billions" next month. I love hating those characters ~ lol.

I dont like the french woman. I dont get it at all.. I think Noah was so traumatized by the prison guard that hes having a nervous breakdown. I dont like the dinner scenes, Noah just takes the verbal abuse from first the female student and now this jerky guy fron highschool. I want him to stand up for himself and tell them off.......Helen is just to wrapped up in herself and looks like has always been through the entire marriage. I think this year is more interesting than last. Im glad he spoke with his son. I think Cole is the only halfway sane one in the bunch. Havent figured out Allison yet, other than she wants her daughterback.

I have been totally intrigued and enthralled by this series from day one to present. I think the characters are all so great --- you hate them -- you love them - whatever --- the cast is wonderful. I just think the whole thing is capitvating!!!!

I still miss watching Revenge --- and this has been the most interesting show for me since it went off the air.

This is not a spoiler because it's only my guess, but does anyone think that Noah is suffering from PTSD and is injuring himself? He very well could have stabbed himself in the neck.

Did anyone notice on last week's episode when he got hit in the rear by the warden's car, there was absolutely NO damage to the rear of Noah's car? All the damage was in the front where he hit those road posts, and they made a point of showing that the back of his car wasn't hit.

I think Noah is in the throes of a nervous breakdown and severe PTSD from his time in prison.

I have enjoyed this show from the start and will continue to watch. What gets me is the way the adult son and daughter, Martin & Whitney, talk to their parents. Martin was especially crude on last night's episode. If I talked like that, my parents would have "killed" me.

I'm watching it, and so far I haven't lost interest. The last few years, I may start out liking a series, but by the third season I just become so bored....maybe it's the quality of the show, or maybe it's just me. That happened with Masters of Sex, I liked the first season and then it was downhill all the way.

Sunala, that's a really interesting idea you have, and I'm thinking that it does seem possible that Noah inflicted those injuries upon himself. We'll have to wait and see.

I agree the characters are not very likable, but maybe that's what makes them seem real. Helen is just really getting on my nerves. I do like the character of Noah's sister. I keep remembering what she said to him when he confided in her that he loved Allison and wanted to be with her, back in an earlier season. She replied "well, I'm in love with Brad Pitt, but I don't get to marry him." It was funny when she said it.

There's not too much on that interests me lately, but I'm still enjoying The Affair.

I know! Trevor is often bratty, too. Stacy is their only respectful child.

I agree. I stopped watching a few weeks ago. I especially dislike Allison. She is so mixed up and makes the wrong choices over and over. But then when I go down the character list, there really aren't any I do like, so I quit watching.

OMGOSH yes I think Noah has PTSD, plus with his opioid addiction and now we saw last night that SOMETHING happened when he was younger!! If he tried to harm himself or suffered from a mental illness as a younger man...Not sure, but my heart opened more to his character this season because last season I was slightly annoyed he just had an "AFFAIR" from my own perspective, not to say he was right or wrong doing so but it did make me realize we all make mistakes and life is complicated and we carry around a lot of issues from childhood. Or you may not and be happy go lucky and great for you!! Wish I was there!!! LOL. xxx

I don't know, but I find this season very depressing. I really cannot stand Helen at all. She is such a miserable person and so cold and nasty. I cannot for the life of me understand why that Dr. puts up with all that cr_p. Any normal man would have been history. He is like a doormat, has no backbone whatsoever.

I just noticed there's an established thread running on this board about The Affair. I wouldn't have started this one had I known. It's really good, with many thoughts and opinions.

But, I guess there's always room for another discussion with new ideas!

I'm finding that I know what's going on a lot more this season. I presume that is because there are not as many characters and crazy stuff going on.

For a while there I was finding myself confused with some points, but that's probably because I can't remember anything anymore.

I agree that Noah is totally losing it or lost it. I think his experiences in prison and also all the pill popping. I think he is hallucinating most of what is going on with him.

As for Helen -- I just can't stand her. She is so spoiled and self-centered and uses people. She has the warmth of a snake.

Nina was right on when she let her have it!!!!

Agree that this season has not been good so far. Plodding plot line has turned an interesting guy into a basket case. I like character studies but this is too much.
