Extreme Alert! Mystery Movie Marathon TCM Tomorrow!

Wow. Talk about great film noirs in a gangbuster line-up Monday on Turner Classic Movies starting at 6:00 a.m. Eastern:

6:00 a.m. "Angel Face"-- Lovely Jean Simmons is a sociopathic killer of her "nearest and dearest". Co-stars a hunky but weak Robert Mitchum.

7:45 a.m. "Beware, My Lovely"-- Ida Lupino's new handyman, deliciously sinister Robert Ryan, turns out to be an escaped mental patient with "issues".

9:15 a.m. "Conflict"-- Humphrey Bogart murders his wife so that he can marry her sister, unsuspecting Alexis Smith. Moody and atmospheric.

10:45 a.m. "Dark Passage"-- This time, Bogie is an (innocent) escaped convict who is harbored and helped by sympathetic artist Lauren Bacall. Bacall has a gorgeous "bachelor girl" Forties apartment in San Francisco where much of the action takes place. Great cat-and-mouse scene toward the end between Bogie and Agnes Moorehead...

12:45 p.m. "The Letter"-- Bette Davis in a deadly triangle in the tropics... Davis is all composed icy brilliance in this, with suggestions of a turbulent inner life...

2:30 p.m. "The Unfaithful"-- Well-heeled Ann Sheridan is implicated in murder after getting involved with another man during her husband's abesnce.

4:30 p.m. "Phantom Lady"-- An engineer's secretary enters NYC underworld to prove her boss was innocent of his wife's murder. Ella Raines is very deft as a Midwestern innocent who must get wised up very quickly. Great, great after-hours jazz drumming scene with Elisha Cook in tiny nightclub...

I mean, are these riches, or what?

They all sound so good. The Letter is my favorite of the bunch

They did a made for TV remake of it, starring Lee Remick. Her clothes were just beautiful. It had a bit of a twist at the end. I wish they would show it again

cherry, that's very interesting. I could see Lee Remick in that, easily, even though she has a different sort of vibe, clearly, than Bette Davis. I'll have to keep my eye out for that one.

@Oznell Dark Passage-really liked that one. Lauren Bacall's apt. had my parents' radio/record player in her living room. Blonde wood (oh, the thing back then) and very large. I also saw their cigarette lighter on the coffee table. Things like that really grab at you.

judaline, your parents must have been very stylish! You can tell that Bacall's apartment is supposed to be very up-to-the-minute and luxurious. And I love an apartment with a spiral staircase!

I'm able to be home today-- just had a couple of quick errands-- so I'm definitely going to be arranging my chores, laundry folding, etc. around the TCM schedule...

"Conflict" which is on now, is such fun. Bogie is quite repellent in it though. His being attracted to his wife's sister is such a creepy element. This movie is another one I love the sets and clothes in...

Boy, that Ann Sheridan was a classy dame. She didn't usually play those parts. Well, I guess I'm thinking of Kings Row. Anyway, she looked great. They don't make 'em like that anymore. The acting was superb and the endings were good endings, not up in the air like they mostly are today and leave you saying, 'huh?'
