Big Brother 16 News and Rumors!

We're just about a month away from the new season of Big Brother. The live feeds are back this year and you can save 20% by buying them early. I always buy mine through Jokers Updates since they're my go-to site for BB news. That way Jokers gets a small portion of the price kicked back to them to help keep them in business and it doesn't cost me anything extra.

In addition to watching the live feeds this year live feed subscribers will also be voting on chores for the house guests, wake-up music, and other options. Among the possibilities will be things like: "Which house guest do you want to do the laundry for all of the other house guests?" It's a nice way for the fans to let those in the house know how we feel about them. (I'm thinking Aaryn and Amanda would have done a lot of laundry last summer.)

No real word yet on casting, but it does appear they're trying not to cast racist idiots this time around. Some of these who went through the interview process and were rejected were apparently quizzed quite intently on who their friends were, how they felt about people of different races, etc.. I think CBS learned a valuable lesson last year with their stunt casting and are trying to avoid a repeat. Luckily there's no big news events going on currently that should lead to stunt casting. Other than putting a Russian and a Ukrainian in the house together, there aren't a lot of options for stunt casting this year.

There are persistent rumors that we'll have at least some returning house guests this time around. Reportedly some have been calling others who they think may also be invited and trying to form early alliances. The rumors come fast this time of year though and most prove to be false, so we'll have to wait and see. Speculation is it could be another "Blood and Water" type show where you have former house guests and their relatives/spouses involved. I'm thinking we'll likely see a few former house guests anyway to try and prevent a repeat of last season. Frank (from BB 14) and Elissa (BB 15) seem to be the names you hear mentioned the most as possible returnees, though anyone is possible.

We should get our first look at the house in the next two to three weeks and then meet the cast right after that. House guests should be entering the house sometime around June 18th and they'll be sequestered a few days before that. The first show will air on the 25th and the live feeds should start up at midnight (or shortly afterwards) on the 25th/26th. Here's hoping it's a fun new season.

Ian and the hammock did get a tad annoying. I haven't heard his name mentioned yet though, so he's probably not involved. It was pretty impressive that he could wear out a hammock in less than three months time.

Hope they can somehow pull off a decent group of houseguests this year preferably newbies. Followed BB Canada 2 this year and was quite impressed. I think they do a better job of it than BB US.

I am getting anxious about Big Brother, hope it is better than last year,hope they clean up there nasty act.will the after show be on c.b.s. channel like last year? Even though it was free,I did not like it. Showtime was better. Thanks Gardenman for the info. tucka.

I haven't heard anything firm yet as to After Dark, but as far as I know TVGuide channel will still be airing the late night free version of the feeds.

Rumors of returning house guests continue to grow and seem to gaining in certainty with each passing day. I'm getting to the point where I'd be surprised if there weren't at least some returning players. At the very least CBS is lining up some former house guests as emergency fill-ins. Given the chaos of last year I think they want some certainty as to what they're getting this time around.

Thanks gardenman. I've started seeing the commercials and am getting excited and am hoping for a MUCH better cast than last year. That was a disaster. Unlike alot of people that disliked Frank I wouldn't mind seeing him again - if he cleans up! For some reason I thought it started earlier in June but guess I have to wait another month

Sabra! Nice to see you back. One good thing is the cast can't be much worse than last year's cast. Short of filling the house with serial killing psychopaths, you'd be hard pressed to get a worse cast.

Robyn Kass (who does the casting) is getting a little tired of the heat she's getting already from the rumor mill and is urging everyone on Twitter to calm down and not listen to the rumors. The rumors are pretty persistent though that we're getting at best a mix of new and old players with Elissa and Rachel figuring prominently in the rumors. We should start getting house/cast details in about three weeks or so.

Given the mood of BB watchers to the rumors, the execs at CBS/Big Brother might be rethinking things about now and reconsidering their casting options. They auditioned something like 60,000+ people this year to be on the show, so they should be able to scrape together an entertaining cast from those 60,000+. I've long been convinced that you could go to any shopping mall in America on a weekend and find sixteen good house guests without a lot of trouble. If you've auditioned 60,000 people and you can't find 16 entertaining house guests out of that group, then you're doing something wrong.

When it gets to be Big Brother time I'm here! Not sure if I'm going to sign up for live feeds this year as things have been hectic and last year I could barely find time to watch them - don't feel like I got my money's worth. I also dvr'd the 2 hours every night on TVGN and would watch in the morning right after I read your thread. Cannot wait for those to start - always entertaining and insightful. I agree, just can't understand why they can't find 16 good houseguests. I would still love to be on the show but don't think I'd pass the physical test plus they don't seem to cast older people anymore. Would love to see a cast of 50+ cast. I think it would be more interesting than alot of people think it would be. Us older folks haven't gotten to be this old to have not learned anything or have any tricks up our sleeves.

And for those who've already bought the live feeds (that would be me) you can now view some clips from old seasons, where are they now interviews, and most interesting to me, a couple of interviews from the BB control room featuring Allison Grodner and Rich. I found the control room setting interesting as it appears the monitors in the control room are now HD monitors which means we could be getting HD feeds this year. I Googled BB Control Room to see pictures of previous BB control rooms (which we see from time to time on FOTH) and the monitors definitely look different to me. Big Brother has been about the last show on the CBS schedule to adopt the HD standard. If they've truly gone HD then we could see the house reworked a bit. A wider image could require altered camera placement and reworking some/many of the angles/corners in the house.

Isn't it about time we get to see the house or some news about it? It is less than two weeks till they are sequestered in the house and nothing is heard. Seems they are very tight lipped this year.

I hope the rumors of returning house guests proves to be false. I never like to see old cast members return. I like all new cast members, and the ones with the least amount of knowledge about Big Brother, the better.

When the cast is too familiar with how BB works, it can be boring. They know everything that's going to happen before it happens.

According to Ian Terry, we'll be meeting the house guests in ten days time. If that's true then we should see the house about then also. The media is expected to enter the house tomorrow (6/6/2014) for their pretend day of Big Brother. They're usually prevented from discussing what they saw for a week or so afterwards. Then we should know if there are any major changes to the house. Ian's timeline makes some sense as we're probably about two weeks from the house guests entering the house. They'll be sequestered for pre-show interviews and the final selection process for four or five days before going in, which would make them enter sequestration in about ten days time. If there are 16 final house guests BB will likely bring a spare or two for the final sequester in case anyone walks.

I'd prefer an all new cast, but at the very least I want a good cast. Last year's disaster was horrible. There were more people to root against than to root for. The bad news is the rumors are pretty much locked in on four returning house guests. The four names you keep hearing are Frank (possibly with his professional wrestler father in tow,) Elissa, Rachel, and Amanda (from BB 15.) Lots of other names get occasionally mentioned, but those four seem to be dominating the rumor mill. Now that could be because they all love the spotlight and are encouraging their names being spread, or it could be they're all queued up to go in. We'll find out in about ten days time.

Oh brother...are you serious? The Twinnies were perhaps more annoying than Brenchel...I was really glad that they were eliminated so early in TAR All-Stars. Wish the same could have been said for Brenchel. The one thing that made it worth them lasting so long, was the "running of the bulls" task. Hilarious! :-D

Ugh!!! The Twinnies??? Again? Please tell me there's an active volcano on the island they're holding Survivor this year that way I can watch in the hope that one or both of them falls in. If all else fails maybe a shark will get one or both of them. I'm not sure there are any more annoying contestants on any reality show.

As to Janelle, there's no chance she'll be on Big Brother this year as she's currently expecting a child and is pretty far along. Unless they've remodeled the house to include a nursery she'll be sitting this year out.

The rumors continue to persist of at least one of the Reilly women (Elissa and/or Rachel) being on BB. Rachel's supposedly participating in the media day event today, so that makes her less likely to be a player, but you never know. CBS loves Brenchel for some reason so we're apt to see them in some fashion this season. Frank seems like a pretty sure bet. Some of the newer alums are also likely to return if it is a returnee season. Amanda from last season keeps being mentioned.

I'd almost like to see Helen back on the show just to see if she learned anything from last year. Her blind belief in that fake alliance with Amanda and McCrae had to be really embarrassing once she got out and saw what really happened. Helen had a solid real alliance in Elissa, Candice, Jessie, Judd, Howard and occasionally Spencer and Andy only to throw it all away and give her allies up one after another for a fake alliance. I'm guessing she's still having a hard time looking Jessie in the face after how she treated her. A second chance for Helen could be interesting to watch, if she learned a lesson from that. Of course, if you asked Helen she'd probably say it was "too soon" to come back since every time someone tried to make a big move she counseled against it as being "too soon." We're about nine days or so from learning more about the house. Here's hoping it's a fun season.

And we have a date for the house guest reveal! The house guests will be revealed on June 19th. It's looking a bit less likely now that we'll get all returnees. Frank has confirmed that he'll be a BB16 observer, not participant. If he's not lying about that, then we can cross his name off the list. His name had been mentioned a lot, so if he's being honest, then the rumors about all returnees starts to look a lot less credible. Rachel reportedly participated in media day yesterday, so she's likely out. It could be all newbies which would be best, assuming they're better newbies than last year's. (Like they could be worse.)
