Why I hate DIsh TV......

We had comcast for many years and loved it except for the price always going up. Also it always went out a lot even though it should not have been affected by weather. That being said I hate that when you post a new show on here I can not go to on demand and watch it. Dish has almost no "on demand" so if I miss it I am unable to see it.

Our Uverse we liked but they are phasing it out for Direct TV -- which we now have. The "On Demand" offerings of this service to us are extensive.

Dish does not offer on Demand as their extensive DVR system basically negates the need for On Demand. I do not miss On Demand at all. We DVR everything and watch at our leisure. We can record multiple shows at the same time while watching DVR'ed programs.

if we could have gotten QVC shows on demand with uverse, I didn't realize it and there were problems for me when they changed the time of a show or added new shows.

I am learning Direct TV 📺 but it is a hassle.

Wish Q would be available to all folks just not cable. My sister has never seen it. She doesn't have cable. Fixed income. Wish they would become like a regular channel like PBS

I live in an area where I can get a lot of different cable networks. I would save a lot of money if I'd agree to 'bundle' everything. NO WAY! I have Verizon landline, Verizon cellphone and internet and Comcast Cable.

I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be to not get every channel. On one hand it seems like everyone should be able to get every channel no matter what cable company they have, but I do understand that one reason one cable company is cheaper than another is because they don't offer all of the same.....and I understand that's the good old American way...competition.

I get every channel offered (otherwise I'd go crazy). I decided I want to upgrade my cable so I can DVR more than 2 shows....I called Comcast to do it but first I put down some rules to to sales girl...She said, "Can you hold on" (to get the price for me)....After 14 minutes (at least) I hung up the phone....I guess she was talking to someone about how much to charge...whatever.

When I am in the mood and don't mind sitting and waiting on the phone forever, I'll call back. Ha!

I don't mind paying for something but I want to feel like I'm not getting cheated. Everyone I know pays a different amount (Verizon or Comcast, it's different) even among the same company!

I love watching TV. I'm 70 soon, have medical issues so TV keeps me company (I've always loved TV).

Here's something I've discovered....young people don't watch TV! None of the young people (I'd say up to early 20's and maybe mid 20's, they don't watch TV). They watch what ever they can get on their computer, (i.e. Netflix, etc) or they confer with friends. It's an interesting phenomenal. I come from a generation who feel like they discovered TV. Move a few generations down the line and they are either too busy to watch TV or don't find it interesting.

I talk to strangers all of the time. If I'm waiting for anything (i.e. Dr's office, in line, in grocery store, wherever) I talk to people. That's how I came to that conclusion. I have 7 grandchildren (ages range from 14 to 4 years old and they simply do not watch TV. Now put a computer or an IPAD or even a phone in front of them and they'll watch 'something' but otherwise....the TV doesn't get turned on.

I mention this because you'd think with not as many people subscribing to cable (I don't know what it is but some of their parents use other forms of cable if THEY want to watch a show) you'd think the cost would be coming down for competition, but it doesn't appear that way.

I know someone who works in the electronics department of Walmart and he says they don't sell that many TV's anymore. I don't know if that's an indication of what I said but it's interesting, isn't it?

Take care. Oh! I almost forgot, one thing I told the girl was that I wasn't signing a contract (that will boost the cost but I want to be free (without worry of paying a penalty) to change cable providers.

I could have written your post. Young people don't watch TV, they would rather spend their TV/cable budget on internet and choose what they want, when they want.

I pay more for my smartphone, DirecTV & minimal WiFi at home monthly than I ever did for a car payment. That's going to change. And i won't bundle either.

My son has a TV but they don't use it like a TV, they use it so the grands can watch Little Einsteins or whatever videos (from NetFlix or wherever) they like. No cable at their house.

My daughter has a smart TV and watches on the TV whatever she pulls up on her smartphone, which is a HotSpot. Whatever that is. No cable

Like you, I do love TV, but daytime is a wasteland IMO. I sometimes have it on QVC during the day with the volume down, or news with CC. However i'm going to love it less when I retire, the cost is ridiculous. Rather spend it on my grands or traveling.

does she have the internet? she can watch it live online just as some watch on tv.

qvc is also available in some markets "over the air." you can find the channel numbers and markets on the qvc wikipedia page on the right hand side.

I have Comcast/Infinity. I pay &139.00 a month. That includes a Zillion channels, (3) HD set boxes and taxes. It has never gone out unless we have a power outage from a wind storm. I think it is steal as I have the TV on almost all day 365 days a year. I called a CS on the phone one time. To ask a question.....they picked right up and took care of me and were very gracious. I woukd never switch,

I have Comcast, too For both cable and WIFI, I pay $60/month. Mind you....my cable is basic. I'll probably change it up once this promotion ends.

I wish I could keep the current prices that I have, but it was a 12 month promotion deal. Once it ends, I'm going to have to haggle with them to get good prices, which I hate. I wish they would lock their customers into the package deal.

I hate the fact that it depends on where you live on what price you pay. My ex husband lives about 7 miles away from me. His cable is much lower than mine. Not sure why that is. I just think Comcast (and all of them) play games.

Wow,you're lucky. I have Comcast,too,and whenever I call I wait 10 minutes on hold and then get disconnected. Luckily,I don't have to call much. Our service is pretty good and I would never sign a contract for service. I need to be able to tell them they're fired if needed.

@Qshopper1991 Yes, I hate the "games" too. I have a friend who calls up to threaten to shut off her cable almost every month to get a better deal......I prefer not to bother with that..... just pay my bill.....they love me.....

I probably called Comcast during the time I had it (about 10 years) about 50 times. I also ask the person I finally get where they are located. I get South America, Phillipines, India, etc. Last dish person I talked to was Phillipines. It seems like they are reading from a script. If they cannot fix the problem I wait a few minutes and call back and maybe the next person can fix the problem. One time I just lost it because I could not understand what they were saying and started screaming get me an american and I was tranferred to someone who helped me and solved my problem. My comcast bill when I cancelled was over 200.00 and each month would go up a couple of dollars. Also I did not have any movie channels like HBO or cinemax.

When haggling/negotiating w/Verizon or Comcast AND if you are a customer of GOOD standing, always deal w/a SUPERVISOR. They are the ones w/the authorizations for the best & UNADVERTIZED deals. Especially when it comes to their 2 yr contracts.

GOOD standing = never/rarely have late payments.

Always ask for senior, AAA, AARP discounts.

No luck w/a SUPERVISOR, ask FIRMLY & POLITELY to be transferred over to their RETENTION dept. They will give you what YOU want. But, only after you have dealt w/a supervisor.

SIDEBAR: If you get want you want from a supervisor or even a regular CS person, get their names & those of their boss. Find out the town they are working out of & their mailing address.

Write a complementary letter & SNAIL MAIL it to the MAIN headquarters (look it up) & cc to their local office of the supervisor or CS.

In the future, there will come more "perks" your way.
