Watching an old 1979 movie today. Great Santini

Watching the countryside in the movie, I really liked it. I looked up on IMBD, and it wasn't filmed where I would have thought it was. It was very pretty. I thought about the outdoor scenery in Sound of Music at the very beginning. I love the street the house was on in Uncle Buck. Saw a movie first time yesterday, where they were up in Canada and it had mountains that were beautiful. If not for the scenery, I would have maybe stopped watching, but I love the mountains!!

Question: What films have you seen that you really like the scenery in?

I recently saw Me Before You and there were some beautiful landscapes.

Many years ago I saw The Great Santini because I had read the book and thought it was one of the best I ever read. The movie was good but the book was even better as is usually the case when a movie is made from a book due to having condense so much of the storylines to fit the time constraints the movie requires.

I've seen "The Great Santini," and really liked it. Robert Duvall's character was one tough you-know-what. I haven't read the book by Pat Conroy, but I should. I loved "The Prince of Tides," which Pat Conroy also wrote.

To answer the question about scenery in films, I think the scenery in "Brokeback Mountain" is stunning. And the way it was filmed was beautiful. The cinematographer was nominated for an Academy Award, but didn't win.

I, also, think the scenery is beautiful in "A River Runs Through It."

I know there are more, but those are just a couple I can think of right now.

The scenery in Dances With Wolves is pretty spectacular. When Harry Met Sally also has some gorgeous autumn in New York scenes.

I loved The Great Santini. Another strong man unable to outwardly show his love for his family. A very complicated guy.

I'm not sure of the name .... Last of the Mohicans, I think. Starred Daniel Day Lewis and Mary McDonald .... I've been wanting to see it again. The wilderness scenes took my breath away.

I love that movie! It is one of my favorites.... But I do cry every time:-(
