Questions About RHW of New York (Early Edition - i.e. 2008)?

So, I didn't want to "stink" up the other RHW's postings with my ummm .... stupid questions.

I started watching RHW's New York right when Bethenny was getting married.

Bravo is now showing way back to 2008 when Bethenny was just getting started (I guess) with her Skinnygirl.

It's fun to see them in the early years, fun for me since I haven't seen them before.

So, I see where LuAnn seems to have several children during the dearly years (a boy and a girl)? I've only ever heard her talk about her daughter (and I've only seen the girl as a young adult). Does she have a son? I assume this guy she's married to on this show she's divorced him and moved on? (It's a question).

It seems like they were much kinder to each other (perhaps they had less baggage back then since they didn't know each other as well). Bethenny is definitely kinder to everyone back in the early years.

It's funny to listen to her talk so lovingly and kind about Jason, knowing what's gone down since then. Ha!

I know many of you have been watching this show since the beginning. What's the story about LuAnn and her children?

She was wife number 4 of Count Whatever his name is with whom she had her 2 children. I don't know if they both cheated but supposedly the cause of their divorcing was an affair he had with some Princess or other.

I think your questions/observations about RHONY really apply to the entire Housewives franchise. When these shows started, they featured people who had known each other for years and had a history together. The viewer watched their lives in this context until some IDIOT IMO decided to get rid of many of those who knew each other and replace them with women who would just drink and fight. They thought it would be ratings gold. That was a mistake. When they did this to RHONY, the ratings fell 25%. Who knew people don't want to watch a bunch of people who don't know each other well--if at all--fight and drink ALL THE TIME. Firings are appropriate for this bad decision, but I don't know whether whoever is ultimately in charge even realizes what the problem is.

Look! I didn't start this thread to bust on Bethenny. I don't have to defend her. It's not like she's someone I know anyway.

I see where she isn't as wound up early on. She IS kinder to these women in the early shows I'm watching. At least I guess I could say it seems she doesn't say what she's thinking. Perhaps that would be more accurate.

This is my observation so far; comparing the show now vs what I observe the show to have been in 2008 (which is re-runnng now).

I tend to like outspoken people. But only if they aren't mean. There are two ways to say something.

Why is it that when a thread is started and someone posts an opinion opposite of someone else, it suddenly becomes (to some) a thread about busting on that person.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. I might not like what someone posts about a TV personality I happen to like, but so what, everyone is different!

As for me, I was simply asking for comments about the early years on this show as I'd not watched the show then. My original post was to get all comments (good or bad) about the participants of this show.

If someone likes or dislikes an individual on the show, I'm interested in why they feel that way. They have every right (in my opinion) to say what they think.

It's not like Bethenny would be reading the QVC forum or care what was said about her here. That goes for any of these women on this TV show.

@Annabellethecat66 Bethenny deserves what she gets. She is arrogant, obnoxious, impolite, offensive, and about a dozen other things. She has let her ego take control of her big mouth. I don't dislike her, but she needs to eat some humble pie and take an objective look at her UNATTRACTIVE and obnoxious behavior. Alternatively, she could be alone for the rest of her life and hated by all. The choice is hers.

@Ms X Wow! Thanks for your comments. It was well written. It all made sense to me, I totally understand what you are saying and I think I agree with you.

It makes sense as to why now they argue so much. I have noticed where in all of these Housewives franchises, they get rid of someone and (it seems) they just plunk someone (sometimes unfamiliar to the other women) in the show.

I just kept thinking, 'well they must know each other from somewhere......but why are these people now suddenly in this show'?

her two children are both adults now.

her daughter, victoria, is an artist and her son, noel, is in college.

i think victoria is in college also, but not sure where. she was also featured in the nick jonas video CHAINS.

@Annabellethecat66 I watched more of the Housewives shows before they started with this "strangers drinking and fighting" model. It's a total loser, but it's what they do. Why did they get rid of Jill Zarin, or did she quit? Does anyone remember Dashawn on the Atlanta Housewives? What about Jeanna (sp?), who had known Vicky for decades? I really like Bethenny, but she really needs to reevaluate her big, fabulous New York City mouth! I like New Yorkers for their brashness and straight talking, but Bethenny has lost sight of what matters. No one should go to the mat over insignificant things, such as Jules' home under construction. There is a time to be polite and a time to be honest. Bethenny is not doing herself any favors by being honest when a wise person would be polite.

As for Bethenny's dating life, did anyone see her recently referring to her date's anatomy or whatever she was saying? It was ridiculous! She needs to hold her tongue when the situation warrants. It will only enhance her life. No man wants to listen to her newly found brand of "honesty." Perhaps this is a phase she's going through.

Annabelle, I'm not sure if anybody filled you in on Jason but the Jason she was dating in Season 1 was not the Jason she married and is now in the processing of divorcing. I can't recall for certain but I believe that Bethenny and (Season 1) Jason had called it quits and were broken up when Season 2 started filming. I seem to recall she met her (soon to be....hopefully) ex husband Jason at a bar or club. Jason of Season 1 had 2 or 3 children although I don't believe they were ever seen on camera. The Jason that she married did not have any children except for the daughter they had together.

It's funny I was watching some of the Season 1 RHNY today too and had forgotten that her boyfriend was also named Jason.

@shoptilyadropagain Thanks for the info. I was confused until the first Jason joined them for dinner and I saw it wasn't the one she married.

I came into the show when she was getting ready to marry Jason, so I saw what he looked like. Then I watched the rest of the time.

I actually was watching this episode as well, and I thought Wow, they were so nice to each other. I miss Jill Zarin, she added enough sass and spice without going overboard.

I still have two episodes left to watch but I agree with some of you in that I think they were definitely a lot nicer to each other most of the time.

Bethenny didn't throw the fits like she does now. I think that's because she handn't hit the big time (was maybe on the cusp of it) yet....

I really liked Jill. I thought they probably got rid of her because she was too 'normal'.

@Annabellethecat66 I liked Jill in the beginning and for a few seasons, but then she became a nutcase, and was so glad to see her go.
