Vita Mix Green Smoothie

I am setting here watching the demo of the Vita Mix, a lot of money just to make a smoothie. I have watched the demo so much it actually is making me want one. But I barely use the Nija that I bought. Anyway back to my title. All the ingredients that Jan puts in that green smoothie. I would hate to see how much it would cost for one smoothie. What 12 items? I think he said. I don't have very deep pockets when it comes to going to the grocery, groceries have risen so much that my buck doesn't go near as far as it use to, paying 429.00 w/tax is way out of my range. This will probably get deleted but oh well.

All I know is that every time I see a presentation, I so want one. It looks like it really does well with green smoothies. I always though the ninja was good but this looks so much better for the green smoothies and the soup almost swayed me. So, the more I watch the more I want one. And the ninja doesn't handle the green ones as well.

I broke down and got one after thinking about it for a couple years. Due to health issues I need to completely change my diet, plus I am not much of a cook and this looks pretty easy once I get the hang of it.

I got one a few yrs. Ago. I don't think you will regret getting one. I basically make one kind of smoothie. It is frozen fruit, ( berries, cherries, mango etc.) Yogurt, coconut water. Then some chia seeds and flax seeds, some almonds. It is not only delicious, but so good for you. I have used it for soup, but if all you do is make a smoothie I think it would be worth it. I think because it emulsifies everything, your body gets better nutrition.

Amortize $500 out for the rest of life (45-50 yrs, God willing) & it will seem like a good deal. I never plan to buy another 'blender' again. It's that quality.

I'm perfectly happy with my NutriBullet. I've had it for quite a while now. It gets used at least daily.. sometimes three times a day and going strong.

I'm glad you're happy with your NutriBullet, but every time I see someone drink one of his concoctions, they end up chewing and I know that does not happen with a Vitamix. It ends up a true liquid -- not a liquid with bits of food in it.

I bought this when it came on the Q years ago, I think it was a Jan 1st TSV. I have never made a better purchase than this, on the q or anywhere.....

I love this . Yes it is not cheap. But worth every penny I spent.

You get what you pay for.And it is so fun to use.

Love my VM! Best purchase I ever made. I bought it at a show from a VM vendor & got the 7500. I am beyond happy with it!!

you don't have to just use those ingredients that he shows in the demo. I like to use whatever fruit is in season. Right now, I am combining blueberries, yogurt, spinach and green grapes and then throw carrots, flax seed, sometimes whatever left over green veggies I have. In the fall, I use apples, spinach and grapes. you can pretty much do what you like.

Yes it is not a cheap piece of equipment but I use mine, so I feel as if I have gotten my money's worth and it works for me to get more veggies into my diet that I would probably ignore w/o it since I'm not a big salad fan.

I don't doubt the Vitamix is an excellent machine.

I gave my opinion on another type that may not be as expensive, but is very very effective.

I'm hardly new to the differences in how to make truly effective smooth green drinks with any and every ingredient you can imagine. It comes out totally smooth, complete with all nutrients. There's no chunks or globs or bits.

Don't knock it till you try it. If you try it and don't like it.. that's fine. I DO.

After using my father's Vitamix several times when he was alive I know what to expect.

I'm perfectly happy with my less expensive machine. It gets put to the test daily.. sometimes several times a day.

they sell nutribullet at Costco now. They seem like a good alternative, get it for approx 100 dollars but much smaller than vitamix.

Yes... that's the big difference- the size. I have to use it more often to make different drinks, which I don't mind.. because I like the variety. I have a favorite breakfast drink, then like something else for mid-day and night-time... and it's just me using it.

I started making lots of green drinks with several healthful ingredients, including nuts, herbs, spices, greens, fruits, etc. after surviving cancer in 2012.

I've had my Nutribullet for quite a while- it truly fits my lifestyle. We have a place called Organic-Greens that makes delicious green drinks and supplies recipes online. I was talking to the proprietor of the location by me. He highly endorses the Nutribullet for individual use.

This machine is much more powerful than one might think. I was skeptical at first, too.

I've had all three of the popular brands. Actually, I started with the Magic bullet back a couple of years when it first came out. Worked just OK and it burned out after a couple of months. I then bought a Ninja - one of the cheaper models. Didn't like it - it was always getting "stuck' and wouldn't start unless the top was sitting just exactly right on the base. Replaced that one with an updated model - same results. As luck would have it, my boss had a Vitamix (7000) she had purchased at the state fair and never used - gave it to me. It far surpasses all previous models. Use every day. Smoothies are the most popular use, but I find I now use it more widely, but still not used it to its capabilities. That said, I was lucky because mine was gift - it would have been a long time before I purchased since this is such an expensive item. Yesterday's TSV is the best price I've seen.

I haven't heard good things about the Magic Bullet. Often people confuse the Nutribullet and Magic Bullet which are completely different in performance.

I had the VM, 48oz from the Q, when it was a TSV earlier this year ad returned it. Watching the demos and the general reviews made me buy it. It was great, but too big for me living alone, didn,t need all that just for a smoothie. I brought a 20'00 dollar smoothie mixer at the health food store and t works fine for me, just a glass full. Well, a couple of days ago, HSN had the Nutri bullet for 114 and 20 dollar kash credit, free S&H, with 4 cups one smaller, so I ordered it. A poster on here likes hers, and it may suit my life style better. I just want a glass a day and don,t need such a big machine, while it is a Good deal for some.

Let's count what I put in my morning smoothies--

1--kale

2-spinach

3- broccoli slaw

4-beets

5-carrots

6-cucumber

7-two pieces of fruit (seasonal) or frozen-

8-ginger

9-1/2 cup 100% apple juice

10-water

11-ice

12--parsley

13-avocado

There you go! It tastes incredible!!! Can't taste the greens/broccoli and is a lovely shade of red because of the beets. Don't know if you can count the ice and water. This makes about 3 glasses that my daughter and I drink each morning. Whoa--that sounds like I make a gallon of smoothies--we don't drink 3 glasses each--we each drink about 1 1/2 glasses each!! Yikes!!!

I have been using mine for about a month. I think it is worth every penny. My son, who is temporarily living with me and who is a vegan, loves the thing. I do too. He was juicing and said it was a huge mess with lots of waste. No waste with the VM and the clean up is so very easy. We make smoothies, Golden Milk, hummus, dressings, soups. It is powerful and it does the job quickly. Highly recommended. Another thing, the volume capacity of the pitcher is wonderful. We can double everything and make two smoothies at a time. The recipe for a smoothie above my post sounds very similar to what we make. Yum!
