The last time she was on air she said several times she’s switching to all hardside luggage because it holds up better. She has a TS the 26th of Jan and it looks like it’s croco again. I’m so disappointed. I’ve been saving to get a new set of hardside....if you search her name on HSN you can see it. I’m tired of croco and ready for all hardside... very disappointing

I travel a lot and have not resorted to the hardside luggage thing. I've actually been on some exotic trips that do not allow hardside. Not that I wouldn't try them as an alternate, as they have some really nice ones on the market. I find Samantha Browns products (of which I own several) are hit or miss. The one thing I love and am addicted to is her packing cubes! I do agree with you regarding the croco style.

After seeing hardside break or spring apart, I switched to well made soft long ago. If you are looking for durable you will not find on shopping channels. For occasional use anything will work.

When I was married, in the year dot, several relatives got together and bought us high quality hard luggage. It was unbreakable but also uncarryable. Then, 26 years ago, when my husband and I began our yearly trips to Europe, we bought high quality, big-wheeled, fabric luggage. It has lasted all these years...through many European and North American airports, as well as US car trips and the up-and-down travails of European railroad stations. Weight, strength, and flexibility are everything in travel accessories.

I believe she meant she personally was switching to hardside luggage. I cannot imagine she would change her whole line over because there are many who don't like that type of luggage.

I bought a small croco set from her 6 or 7 years ago. It was a 22" bag and a doctor's bag that fits under the seat.

Last year I bought a larger hardside bag from Kohls. It's Skyway brand and is very highly rated. I have only used the bag twice though. Once for our cruise last year where I did check the bag and once for a trip to Napa where again the bag was checked.

I love my hardside luggage. Once reason I love it is because it really doesn't expand so there isn't a way for me to bow out the sides, over stuff it and end up with over weight luggage.

Time will tell how long it holds up. As far as my SB croco set, the bag is small so it would be for a weekend getaway. Nothing substantial.

DH and I have travelled a lot in the past 40+ years. Have never owned/will never own hardside luggage. I like having an outside pocket and lightweight is absolutely a must. Plus it must be expandable.

BTW, although I like the looks of some of her items, I will not buy because her name is prominent on every item. I am not Samantha Brown!!!

Favorite luggage: Travelpro. I usually get mine at Marshall's or Macy's.

I am a big traveller and would never use the hard-sided luggage. I only get the nylon with the expandable zip. I've seen too many hard-sided pieces taped up by the airlines just to keep them together.

The soft sided ones are more forgiving and you can stuff if need be. there is no stuffing a hard case.

Also I have always gotten the lightest, why start with a case that is already heavy?? that means you take less.

Just weigh your luggage after you pack it is really hard to be overweight, you are probably taking way toooo much.

I have a lot of different types of luggage. My kids as well as some of my friends borrow my luggage all of the time.

Hard luggage can break. I have had some corners dented and eventually break. The good side of it is it is waterproof. if your luggage sits out in the rain while waiting to be loaded in the underbelly of the plane, water can and does soak theough soft sided luggage and will leave you a mess.

I have different types of soft sided luggage too. My favorte is the ballistic fabric. It holds up really well, doesn't tear or get dented...it is a tad bit heavy though and expensive.

I have luggage from eBags...their brand in twisted poly. It has held up very well and is lightweight. This luggage is what is usually borrowed from me. Everyone loves it. Mine has been all over the world and back again and still looks new. I would highly recommend eBags luggage..great price and durability. The reviews on EBags are stellar, so they are well loved by many people who do a lot of traveling.

They have packing cubes and packing envelopes too. Mine are over 20 years old and look like new and they have been used hard. I use them without the luggage when we travel in our RV.

I see she has some new pieces, thanks for the heads up. No watermelon though. One thing about buying pieces of not being to find everything in the same colour. Phooey.

Hardside luggage is NOT heavy. I have nylon luggage that weighs more than my hardside bag.

I have also seen a ton of nylon, faux leather, etc. bags taped up as well coming around the carousel.

I am not a fan of hard side luggage, I have her faux leather luggage and have it for over 5 years and it still is holding up great. Just don't overstuff your luggage

I highly recommend you check out Marshall's and TJ Maxx for lugguage. They always carry a variety of brand names, both soft and hardside. If you see any 'IT' brand names peices, they are terrific, very light and well made. I have always thought that Samantha Brown's croco lugguage with it's shinny surface coarting looks so cheap.

I agree with everything you've said. I have traveled extensively throughout my career and the only luggage of mine that has been damaged (ripped, dented, etc.) was the soft-sided luggage. My hardsided luggage has held up just fine and it's not heavy at all.

I have the one she has for the TSV today. (without all the extras and only paid $99.00 for it with the tote only as an add on)

She changed the tote to microfiber, mine is the same plastic faux leather as the 22".

It has gone to Vegas 3 times and I like it, it fits a lot. I never check a bag and it fits in the overhead even with the extension zipper for more room unzipped.

The one thing that is cheap and very annoying is the handle. It is thin aluminum that wiggles and jiggles as you are rolling it. I have had times when I felt like it was gong to break and I would end up carrying it by the handle!

The other very annoying thing is the handle is so far back on the back of the suitcase if you have anything in the front pocket it tips over the minute you let go of the handle. I use the front pocket for my computer so I can just take it right out before putting it in the overhead. I can't tell you how many times I have freaked because I let go of the handle and it tips over forward. Guaranteed. Every.single.time.

I made a bubble wrap pocket the same size as my computer and slip it into the front pocket for some cushioning for the guaranteed 5 or 6 times it tips over.

I have the leopard colored one and I do get lots of compliments, but that wiggly handle is making me nervous. Feels like it is only a matter of time before it breaks.

I have 2 pieces....the 21 (or 22?) and the 26" croco in black with brown trim. I have had zero problems with them...I do not travel the world just in the USA LOL! I have had people comment on my luggage...Men asking me about it and saying how great looking it is. The man working for Delta checking us in recently told me he owns the same luggage (same color too) and he has had zero problems with his. I bet he has traveled much more then I have. I don't have issues with the handle wobbling on either bag. The wheels are doing great also.

With that said we did purchase a Samsonite hardside 30" bag from Khol's on sale...has a ten yr. warranty. It is light weight and very secure/durable. My husband uses that one...I love that bag and recommend it.

The only thing I don't like about the SB Croco is that I find the bags on the heavy side before you even pack them.

I don't find them cheap looking.

I can't speak to the current TS, but I bought an "ultra lightweight" set a couple of years ago that I love. It was a spinner, tote and packing cubes. I take several 4-5 day trips a year and this works beautifully. I only use them as carry on, so don't know how they would hold up as checked baggage over time, but the fact that they are lightweight (even when full) is essential for me, as some years ago I had a serious back issue as a result of lifting a bag in and out of an overhead. I also have gotten compliments on the set - once stopped in an airport asking me whose luggage it was.

Just a heads up...overseas travel allows a 21 inch carry on...NOT 22. I also prefer soft because I like the outside pockets. TJMaxx and Marshall's have great luggage and so much less$$$$$$$$$$$.

@gabstoomuch, that is the set I think I have too. Mine is the navy croco with brown trim, no ombre. It came with a doctor's bag and the carry-on for $99.00. My doctor's bag does fit under the seat and I have used it by itself many times. She said the tote bag now does not fit under the seat, you have to put it in the overhead bin.
