Wow - Thanks for the input guys.

I would have thought there would be a huge number of replies to this thread, but it is apparent that a good majority of QVC either do not read this thread, or they don't own a sleep number bed.

So 5 replies and it appears that 2 out of the 5 are disappointed with the purchase.

Its a super expensive bed for sure and I am so hesitant about doing a purchase.

As stated in my original post, I have been through 3 major name brands mattresses over the past 5 years & none of them live up to what the promote. Ten year warranties are a Joke... they don't even last 3 months before starting to sag & that is with a firm mattress. I've had the reps come 3 times to determine the mattresses were defective & replaced them.

It's not so much the hassle of having it replaced as the pain in the lower back & not getting a great night sleep.

I guess I will pass on this expensive sales pitch

I have had issues with so many name brand mattresses in the past few years. The pat year and a half, I had a new mattress replaced twice already after 3 months of sleeping on it. Does anyone gave a sleep number who can justify the price of getting one? Are they worth the money? Any complaints? Any great experiences? Thanks for any honest input!

I had one, and really hated it. It was just too soft for me. I gave it to a family member, and they love it. The mattress I have now, is an extra firm with a memory foam topper. And it was less than $1000.

We got our King size one in 2006 when it was a TSV. This type of bed is the only King sized we could get up the stairs to our bedroom the way our house is configured. That said, we really like it. We have had no problems. Ours has 2 wired remotes and two different layers of foam in it (zoned egg crate and memory) that you can choose which to put on top. The bed came in 5 boxes so be aware of that if you think you might want to return it. I took pics as we unpacked each box just in case. It was not overly difficult to assemble. The cat helped me. We miss it when we travel or stay in our second home. And if we have to replace at some point we will probably get another. My husband is a foot taller and 100 lbs heavier than me and it is nice to not bounce around. Now, if only the bed could make him stop snoring...

I bought my sleep comfort king size adjustable bed with massage, three yrs ago, at the tune of $6000 And it is by far the worst investment I ever made. Sheets and comforters slide down off of it whenever the head of it is raised. Which, by the way, the raising and lowering of the bed is the best feature, yet, not worth paying $6000 for. I have split boxes not one solid one under the bed that do not stay together, but split, open at the tiniest amount of weight. The mattress slides along down over the foot of the bed, while lowered or raised. My partner and I have to hike it back up. Therefore, it makes it impossible to sit on the end of the bed to put shoes on or simply just sit upon. The pumps that regulate the air pressure stick out at the head of the bed, and there is not a set of sheets that has been made to accommodate these, thus, no way to tuck in sheets, firmly, and once again, when the bed is raised, the top of the sheet comes off and the mattress cover is exposed. I do not think a day goes by that I do not deeply regret this purchase.

I have had one for 14 years and absolutely love it. I think we paid $1,400 and have said many times I would never buy any other brand. I have major back issues and fibro and it has been a lifesaver for me and I spend a lot of time in it. Seems to really help alleviate pressure points. After sending two previous sets (other brands) to guest rooms in short order we finally found our holy grail.

i got the while supplies last aspire model. really don't care for it at all. but, i'm coming from sleeping on a waterbed since the 80's - i thought surely there would be a number to compare, no way. the thing i hate about it is there is just no give (you know with a regular mattress you have springs, water moves) too it no matter what number. yes, you have 100 nights to decide, but i'd hate to pay the shipping to return it. i'd go to a store before blindly ordering.

I'm really on the fence about ordering it also. I have terrible hip pain at night and thought this might be the answer but with so many disappointing reviews I would hate to order and have to return due to shipping costs. If they would offer free shipping back I wouldn't hesitate. To me the trouble to box it back up and send it back should be enough for the customer to deal with.

I bought one in August of 2012 and I love mine (TSV). I slept on waterbed from the 80's until about 2002, then had a pillow top for about 10 years. I enjoy the sleep number bed a lot (my sleep number is very low,35) but I would buy it again. I got a queen for about $1800. It is not an adjustable bed, but a standard queen. I still think my best sleep EVER was on my waterbed though. I got rid of it because I had it almost 20 years, and I was worried it would break or leak and cause major damage because of the age of it. I paid about $800 for the mattress in between the waterbed and sleep number bed. Someone must be buying them because the TSV seems to repeat often, even though the styles change. We spend about 1/3 of our life sleeping, so the $1800 to me was not super expensive, and it does help with the pressure points. I'm curious of the people that got rid of their SN bed, what they purchased to replace it. My brother and family have several Temperpedics, but they say they are comfortable, but are so hot.

I have tried to research mattresses until the cows come home! I have been VERY interested in the sleep number beds, I have a lot of hip pain and joint pain. it seems people eithe love or hate these beds, just as with Tempurpedic, , which I have also looked a lot at. My hubby and I live in a very rural area, so to travel to a store to try these would be a good two hour drive. And,as so,done already pointed out, if you get the "split" king or queen, sheets can't be found for them..you would think Northern nights would have been making sheets to accommodate this!! ( have several NN sets that I love!). Not that long ago we sunk THOUSANDS of dollars into a top of the line Stearns and Foster mattress....it is now what we call a "taco bed" cause we both end up rolling to the middle no matter if we want to or not!!! it seems that buying a mattress is like shooting in the dark..,no real "reviews" out there to help you make an informed decision....

I just bought my second sleep number bed in May to replace one that we had had for 14 years. I wanted the adjustable kind. I love it. We got a split King (not the top of the line because I felt like I was in the mattress but the next one down) & we bought it at the sleep number store. Their adjustable bed is slightly different than the model sold on the Q. But it does cost more in the store. I got a good deal because they were having a previous owners sale. It's actually screwed down & so the bed does not come apart as someone mentioned. The mattress doesn't move down or over the bottom. It does make it a little difficult to change the sheets. Speaking of sheets you can get them at the sleep number store on sale or I found some extra long twin sheets at BB&B around the end of summer when the college kids need stuff to take to school. That way I got to use the rest of the Northern Nights sheets & pillow cases that I have. I do agree that Q should have Northern Nights make split sets available, especially when they sell split beds. The bed isn't the be all & end all of aches & pains but we are older & I think that comes with the territory. We also bought their memory foam toppers to go on it & that make it even more cush. Hope this helps. JBK

Got our first one 18 years ago, and it was the best investment EVER. Prior to getting the Select Comfort, we had a queen size soft side water bed. It was great, as it had 7 water bladders. Only thing, if you wanted to change the 'softness', it involved hooking a hose up to the bladders you wanted to let water out of. Finally found it was easier to take each one into the shower and empty some out and then weigh each one to make 'em even.

Got the Select Comfort PillowTop, and never looked back. Customer service has always been top notch. They replaced the board in the control unit several times over the years. (Local transformer got hit several times by lightening, taking out our Sleep Number bed control board, Keurig, garage door transformer, DVR and digital phone). Last time, they just replaced the whole unit, so now I have wireless remotes.

They also replaced the foam support pieces around the perimeter and at another time, replaced the memory foam and egg crate toppers.

Recently took it up to the ranch and bought Sleep Number Innovation with all the bells and whistles for the house.

For those of you who travel and are addicted to your Select Comfort bed - Radisson has them in all their hotel properties. Got so used to the Select Comfort beds, that when we travel by car I take a queen size Aero Bed with us to put on top of a hotel bed. Have no problem getting any hotel to supply bedding for us.

There are a lot of things I would do without, but the bed isn't one of them. I used to tell DH that if we ever got a divorce, we would split things evenly. He could have the kids, but I get the bed and the micro/convection oven. He didn't think that too strange, since I had the minister revise our wedding vows ...for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, BUT NOT FOR BREAKFAST!......

I purchased a Sleep Number King bed w/pillow top, from QVC in early 2010. I have had no problems with it. Always slept on standard mattresses for many years - and loved the way, the air mattress (concept) conforms and supports all areas of your body. The only picky part I can list, is that when the air pressure changes (outside) - approaching storms and such, the remote has to be reset to my favorite number of 35. I have to check it each night before getting into bed to make sure it reads 35. Sometimes it can raise up to 60 - sometimes down to 25. After one e-mail to their customer service rep. - he explained that it couldn't be helped. The motor that controls your support, can be effected by the outside weather air pressure.

Yes - I researched these kinds of beds, a long time before deciding to get it. That involved many searches online - reading reviews. The local bed companies use to let you use one for 120 days before purchase - that might be an easier route to go, if Select Comfort still lets the local companies provide that?? It was a dramatic and serious choice at the time, but I am quite happy I made it.

I LOVE my sleep number bed! I was waking up with sore hips, my arms would be alseep, basically everything hurt. Choosing to go with a sleep number was a huge decision because of the cost but I was desperate. I went to the local sleep number store and found my "sleep number" (like they do on the show)- then ordered from QVC when it was a TSV. My only regret.... We didn't buy it sooner! Immediate relief from all my aches and MUCH improved sleep! I highly recommend Sleep Number beds.

We have a Sleep Number bed in our RV. It is a queen short size which is made specifically for an RV wooden platform.

The original mattress that came with the RV was a back killer, so we purchased a new Sleep Number for about $1500.

I can tell you that is more comfortable than what we had before. My husband and I both sleep on #80. It is just as comfortable as the regular inter-spring mattress that we have on our bed at home, but not more so. We don't plan on replacing our home mattress with a Sleep Number when we need to get a new one.

I would suggest that you try one out at a Sleep Number store before you buy. They have popped up all over the place in many malls. Sometimes you can get a great deal on a discontinued mattress color or fabric.

Mattresses are very personal. Everyone is different. It's an investment for sure. Make sure you get the most comfortable one you can afford and always test them first.

We bought one about 1.5 years ago. We really like it. When I was pregnant I could adjust the bed. It did take a while to find out numbers - like 6 months.

We bought ours from the store. I find the prices on QVC are the same as the store. The store offers no-interest financing and if the bed goes on sale they will refund the difference. We bought a lower model for $1600 which included the shipping and tax. 2 weeks later it was dropped to $300 off. I called and they refunded us the $300.

At 7 months pregnant I assembled the bed myself. It's super easy to do.

My advice is to go to a store and check them out.
