On 4/1/2014 cfanny said:
I watched the presentation on the Nuwave with David V. and a Nuwave representative after the TSV. A woman called in and said her steaks and veggies turned out great but the baked potato was not done and didn't turn out. She asked for tips on how to do it. The day of the TSV they only showed Kansas City Steak twice baked potatoes that were frozen. The Nuwave gal said, "I don't know." and David V. suggested calling Nuwave and getting advice. So when the Nuwave gal, "I don't know." that was it for me. I had ordered one, and wasn't sure I would like it. Instead of unpacking it, trying it, and then sending it back used, I opened the box, put in the return information to get a refund of my easy pay, and took it back to the post office. Guess I really don't want to bother with something they don't have the answers for. Not for me.

Depending how many potatoes you want to cook is how long it takes. If you want to cook a meal I start my potato(es) 15 to 20 minutes before I had my meat so that everything will all be done at the same time. If you're only baking potatoes and you use 3 to 4 then I would say 30 to 40 minutes depending on their size.

BTW there are cooking demonstrations with the nuwave on youtube if any one is interested.

Glad I was watching the presentation at 8:00 am central time...I was sitting on the fence about buying. Watched the presentation cooking the fresh chicken breast and the frozen steak and 2 frozen twice baked potatoes.

First, just looking at the items the steak looked not so good to me...I like a little charring, although I order my steaks medium rare. One of the baked potatoes was really, really over brown while the other looked pale by comparison. Then when he cut into the chicken it was not done in the center.

Second reason I was on the fence was because if you were cooking frozen poultry how are you getting the giblets out of the cavity? I don't see them washing the chicken and patty it dry.

So, I am off the fence...no NuWave Pro for me.

Yeah, I think I saw the one you're talking about but I read the reviews which are mostly excellent. I went to Amazon and read reviews there as well and got advice from one person who gave a good review...cook a minute or two longer than the directions say. Also, use a thermometer. It's what I do for the oven anyway. Most said that the meat tasted better. in the NuWave. There's a learning curve, for sure, but I ordered it. I also looked at YouTube videoes before deciding,

I noticed the same thing about the beef and chicken not being thoroughly cooked through. I guess you would just have to cook it a little long. I also was wondering about the giblets that come inside a chicken. I always remove them before cooking. If it's a frozen chicken how the heck would you get them out. I am passing. I bought the Ninja 3-1 about a month ago and love it. A whole chicken comes out so moist and tender. I prefer my steaks on a real grill also. I guess it would be good for some things, but I don't need another big appliance in my kitchen.

Maybe if you have a Nuwave, you would wash and prepare your chickens for the Nuwave and then freeze them? I think when they try to do too many different foods at the same time that it gets yucky. Just show chicken alone and it would probably be okay.

There is no real way to remove the giblets from inside the frozen bird. One would need to remove them before freezing; however, the implication of the presentations is that one can take one directly from the freezer -- in its original packaging -- remove the plastic, season, and cook.

As for rinsing the chicken, the USDA (and many cooks now) recommend against rinsing them as it spreads bacteria and leads to cross-contamination. Just path dry with paper toweling and cook; all surface bacteria is killed in the cooking process.

I was interested the last time they had it as a TSV. I found it cheaper elsewhere, but after reading the reviews online from several sources decided against it. So many had trouble with the dome cracking. It was a very common complaint.

To remove giblets and neck from frozen bird, it is suggested to cook the bird for a short time breast side down then remove the innards (as soon as the heat has thawed it enough).

I posted here and the title was something like "When was the last time Mary Beth was on for a TSV at Midnight"?

It was very enjoyable to watch the presentation. She is a true professional. She talked for 1 hour about the value of owning one. She described all of the uses for it.

She never said she owned it. I listened very carefully. She (I think, just a guess) does not say she owns everything. If she owns it, she says she does.
