qvc has no right to sell this product when it has not been evaluated by the FDA. Only by changing your microbiome can you change your body. Please..qvc..shame on you.

The selling of diet pills is kinda of like the beginning of the end. Diet Pills!! And whatever happened to those Lite Bite bars?

@PuggirlOn the other hand, every day millions of people swallow millions of supplements that are not FDA approved and we read every week here about posters who religiously follow a supplement regime. I'm not much of a supplement user and I don't think QVC sells a whole lot of them (do they?)

but one of HSN's most popular vendors sells millions of supplements several times a year as do hundreds of others. The shelves in supermarkets and drugstores are full of them - and no FDA is involved.

By the by, my doctor will not discuss supplements at all because of the lack of FDA involvement, yet I have friends who use the same doctor but follow a supplement regime without his assistance.

I'm not buying today, but I see no shame by QVC. Maybe shame for the government, but we're in the wrong decade to see more government regulation, so users are on their own still.

I don't really want the FDA involved with supplements. If they would just concentrate on safety I'd be fine with it. But, they wouldn't do that. They would start taking them off the market unless they could prove they worked which would require lots of expensive tests and studies just like the drug companies heve to go through which drives the cost of drugs through the roof. Since supplements come from nature, there's no supplement company that would go to the cost of doing that since they would put all the money into it and then any other company could then sell that product without having to put that money into it. That's also why drug companies don't even look at natural products because there's no money in it for them.

Regardless... just be generally careful of ALL supplements. The FDA is not required to give their approval to dietary supplements... also QVC has been selling (off and on) Re-Body SafSlim for years. Same company selling today's TSV.

@Icegoddess ITA!! I recently went to a very reputable neurologist for a problem. She discussed drugs and the side effects and we agreed that the side effects, for me, would be more of a problem than the condition. I asked her about supplements, for this specific condition and she did have some clinical studies. She printed out the supplements and the dosing that was tested in the research. She also told me to expect about 3 months before I see results, if any.
There is research out there, but doctors don't make $$ off of supplements, so you have to press.
I personally don't want the FDA involved in supplements. They have botched up too much.

Actually, supplements cannot purport to treat any medical or health issue. The label can only state that it "supports" certain things. That's it. As soon as it makes a claim that it treats something it falls under FDA control. You really have to do your own research to determine what supplements might work for any given condition.

Also, just to show how the FDA works, I think it's interesting that for years and years the FDA only allowed Stevia to be sold as a supplement. Nowhere on the label could it say it could be used as a sweetener. Why? Because of the sugar lobby. Only after another big food lobby decided it was worth using in one of their products were they able to start labeling it as a sweetener. I bought Stevia as a sweetener many years before it ever started showing up on grocery store shelves, but there was nothing on the label stating it could be used as a sweetener.

IMO people who take supplements indiscrimintely, e.g., for hair/nail/skin problems are foolish. I read about those who take 10/12 supplements a day, I think Colleen on HSN said she took several, and wonder how healthy that truly is. If there is a specific need, take that specific supplement, otherwise at the very least a waste of money.

Although these types of products are not regulated by the FDA, they are also sold at supermarkets, health food stores, and pharmacies, etc. Why would you say QVC does not have a right? Do your own research on the product if you need more information and make an informed decision to buy or not buy. I have found a several supplements that are helpful to me and my doctor has even suggested a few. I have not tried meratrim but I have been researching the ingredients.

Friends, save your money, there is no permanent quick fix. Eat more fruits and veggies, more chicken and fish and walk around the block. Much better for you and you'll feel strong and healthy.

I think you are always going to have a weight problem because you are depending on supplements and not reality. You have to do it on your own because nothing will help you reach your goal except you.

Well that is your opinion when I was pregnant with my son I gained 82 pounds I was 88 before and I ate and ate good foods and healthy foods and so to loose the weight I did 6 months of slimfast in 1989 and then the rest diet pills and lost the weight back down to 100 but the diet pills were fastin and they do not sell those anymore.........so diet pills do work and I do not eat donuts its my meds and I do walk in the spring and summer and fall and I have a bike at home I ride and am watching my carbs but nothing is coming ofd,,,,,,,,,,,,everyone is different so you can't make jusgment on a lot of people.
