I was just getting ready to post the same thing! Glad someone else got this out there, they NEED to mention this on air!!!!!!! Alot of people have dogs, I cant believe someone is not saying this. Hope this gets posted alot!!!!

I would like to add, that I looked it up too when I saw your post, because we have cats and it is toxic to cats also. So I thank you for posting this! And I agree this should be mentioned on air!

PS) We always put our plants outside hanging up high in Spring and Summer and then In Winter we put them in a room that is sealed off (the door is kept closed) from our cats OR we put plants high up on a shelf we have that our cats cannot get to but it is very important that people be aware of this! IF I buy one (I am considering it, this is what we will do with it so that our cats do not get at it!)

My dogs, even my chewing puppy, don't eat plants. Very few would be interested.

This does look like another of those exotic plants Roberts's continues to sell which are from South Africa or Madagascar, are very difficult to grow (yeah, they always say easy) and won't flourish outside their specialized environment.

My dog has never jumped on any table or windowsill and chewed on a plant. Never once.

Dont buy it if you don't want it, but no need to incite hysteria.

No pets in this house, but during the many years I did have my dogs, I felt it was my responsibility to provide a safe environment for them.

I'm glad the pet owners here are doing that, but no, I don't think the warnings would keep me from buying these plants if I could figure out how to give the tree a safe home. That's my hesitation, not Fido.

It's hardly hysteria. It's information that is irresponsible for the growers not to share. The sap is toxic to not only pets but children. Here is a warning from another site:

I did a Live Chat with CS and asked that they mention that The TSV is toxic to pets. She said she would forward that information. It's a HOUSE plant I hope they tell the buyers on TV.

It is toxic to pets. Cats eat plants... We are not just talking about puppies and dogs. It would be a good thing to know for it is a "house plant"

This is important information, and I hope it's mentioned. I doubt it, since we're talking about a company that, for example, knowingly foists faulty devices upon us.

I'd love to get a couple of tsvs, but I doubt they would survive my region. And I'm not sure about a plant that has acid for blood.

Just want to send a thanks out to the lady who called CS about this plant. Hopefully QVC does the right thing and mentions this on air for all the people out there that may never think about the possible danger. I am sure there are pet owners that think of these things but there are also people who just wont know. You can not judge all dogs by what your own dog may do! I have had dogs all my life and they are all different, some would be interested and it doesnt take alot of this plant to kill a pet. I read they would kill big game animals with the poison from this plant on arrows! Just think how little it would take for a toy yorkie to die! And yes dogs do try to get on counters and tables, mine do. So just because you may not have experieced this with your own pets does not make this safe for ALL the pets. If I sound hestical to you, well all I can say is someone has to speak for the furry friends that may be in danger from a pretty plant that owners buy because they dont have all the information about the danger! I thought the plant was pretty and was just price checking around when I found out about it, and yes my dog is always checking out new things I bring home and put on my counters. So yeah, I am worried about all the little pets that die when this thing comes home, I care about them!!

Thanks for posting! That's the first think I looked for in the description, but didn't find that information of course. The plant is really pretty and creepy all at the same time though, but would never buy it because I happen to love my cat

There's a huge difference in providing valuable information and "inciting hysteria".

I would be hard pressed to believe that Ms Dog Lover host Carolyn would want to be a part of any of these companies who sell plants that are toxic to animals & children. So by my reading of a couple of last posts here, phoned and posed this question.

People who choose (1) to buy plants by Roberta's & Cottage Farms that just don't grow/survive/bloom, and (2) are toxic to animals & children NEED to know this info. And as others have noted, some of these plants simply do not grow here or anywhere in the US.

So many of the varieties of plants both of these companies sell at HIGH prices CAN so easily purchased at our local growers. Do NOT waste your time & money for these many common plants. BUY LOCAL when the time comes in your area of the country.

BUY LOCAL.

I would never buy any type of flower or plant from a shopping channel. There are so many gardening places and they will be honest with you. Why this has not been mentioned is obvious--they would not sell. I say buyer beware. Thank you for posting this information it probably saves the lives of cats and dogs.

No one is being hysterical but people need to be informed.

Personally whether my dog ever chewed up plants or not, I'd not bring a plant that was toxic into my home. As a pet owner, I think it's irresponsible. There is always that off chance it could happen and I'm responsible for taking care of my pets.

I did own a dog that dug up anything we planted in the backyard. We had to stop planting anything. All I could have out back at the time were hanging baskets.
