Samsung Tracfone TSV

I believe the Tracfone is the TSV for tomorrow. I like an idiot deleted the email so I don't have details other than it is around $100. Does anyone know if this phone is any good? I would be using it strictly as an emergency phone in case my landline phone wasn't working. I guess it's good enough for that!

I'd like to know details on it as well. I got a new Tracfone a few months ago and the darn thing has been full of spam calls and messages from the day I activated it!!!

I'm considering it also. The last phone TSV was an LG, and this one is a Samsung. I hope the Samsung is a good phone, because I'm ready to take the plunge.

I'd be afraid to order this. Tracfone has horrible customer service. The same customer service reps as Straight Talk and Net 10. They do not speak English. The presentation I saw this morning, said QVC customers have their own dedicated service number for this deal, but I'm sure it's the same call center. But this is a deal for someone who doesn't live on their phone who wants an updated device. But once you discover what all the phone can be used for, and unlimited plan might be more cost effective.

The only service I've tried of those you mentioned was Net 10 - some of the worst CS I've ever had. I should have turned them into my state's attorney general!

Last time QVC was offering a phone, I walked into the Verizon center a mile from home and told a rep about that offer. I'd been told by a phone rep a few weeks before that that I had as inexpensive a plan as my phone qualified for, but that fellow was suddenly able to find me a plan for $30/month less. Still more than the TSV would have been initially, but also $350 less annually than I'd been paying. I stayed with my old phone and with Verizon.

As a tech geek, I'm disappointed that the phone is allegedly "brand new" and yet is two versions of Android behind current. Current version is 5.0 "Lollipop." The previous one was 4.4 "KitKat." This phone has 4.3 "Jellybean," according to the product page.

You'll notice the versions all have candy names, and go in alpha order.

I'm not sure the target person for this phone would notice, but don't expect the latest and greatest. You might hear somewhere about some amazing thing that Android phones can do, but that might not be available for this version. Peripherals might not work with it. And Google is no longer fully supporting these older versions of Android. Samsung should not be selling such old tech. Seriously, it's been more than a year since the KitKat update.

It's probably a fine basic phone for making phone calls and texting and very basic web stuff, Facebook, etc.

I just bought a LG Tracfone from HSN with 1500 minutes for $79. They have a separate company contracted to do activations; they're not done at the CS location. I emailed them a question late one evening and had a response the next morning. I had a problem where I did have to call CS and the rep did have an accent but I was easily able to understand her. She was very patient and fixed my problem quite satisfactorily. Personally, I think their CS is superior to many I've experienced. If they're very busy, you can leave your name and number for a call back rather than sit on hold.

I ordered one for my husband, I have had a tracfone for years and the CS problems may exist but the no bill aspect is worth the rare inconvenience of CS. This is really a good deal and the new features with the larger screen is a plus. Also I buy my minutes on the internet on their site, and the send back you old phone thing is GREAT!!!

I bought this to have as an emergency phone if the landline one is out. As long as I can make a phone call it's good enough. If I was buying a new Tracfone for myself( to take with me) I would get something a little better.

Did you get a brand new phone number?

Is your phone an Android based one? If so, download an app called Mr. Number. It logs all your calls like your regular call log would, but with the Mr. Number app you can mark the numbers as spam and either send them to voicemail or hang up on them if they call again.

I've had my cell phone number for over a decade now and I don't get too many spam calls, but every once in a while one will call. I don't pick up numbers I don't recognize. As soon as they call I google the number and if I notice it has comments about being spam I'll block it.
