I just looked back and saw I bought my Emjoi on May 31st. Now they are telling me this TSV is better and more advanced.

Do you think it is really better and less painful? Is it worth another investment? I would love to try it but I have been happy with the one I have. Just writing this post has helped me decide not to buy it. I am sticking with the one I have had since May.

Who knows, six months from now they will have a new improved one so I am passing on this.

LOL, I'm not sure it is any different than the one from last year other than the handle, but I don't like the real small size as much as I thought I would. The case was nicer last year. I may use the small one for my face and order this for my legs.

Bookbabe if it still hurts maybe you need to use it more? I haven't thought they hurt for years, maybe you just have to build a tolerance for them. I actually liked the coil ones better but they are harder to find these days.

I have an Enjoi Silken model that I bought years ago. Mine does not have to be plugged in to use which is more convenient for me. However, I am finding that it does not hold its charge for long anymore. I only use it on my chin, and t does a good job, but I do need to use it daily. This model seems quite expensive for what I use my Emjoi for. Does anyone have an Emjoi model that does not have to be plugged in?

It does say that it is updated, not just the handle. It has some mechanism that helps keep the skin taut and has the dual opposite rotating blades (not sure if the last one had this or not) to get all hairs that grow in every direction so you should have less passes. This one is suppose to be less irritating.

Thanks for bringing this up, beachgirl. When I saw the TSV at 12am today I had another moment where I snap a little - retail entity touts one-of-a-kind, most up-to-date technology - and less than a year later comes out with something that's tweaked slightly and I end up feeling a little ripped off.

I'm not positive that feeling is justified, but I purchased the Emjoi eRase 60-disv 2in1 Epilator in December 2013. Under that product, the description states:

Why is it different: The eRase has 60 tweezers with Precision Hair Removal Technology to remove the majority of hair on the first pass, saving time by reducing the number of passes required to achieve smooth skin. The three-disc system features one fixed tweezer disc and two that open and close to gently stretch the skin, increasing comfort and efficiently removing hair. Dual opposed heads gently hold the skin taut, making epilation more comfortable and the staggered, dual-opposed heads cover greater surface area and grasp the hair the first time. It also includes a sensitive cover for delicate areas like the bikini line and underarms, and a dual-function shaving attachment.

Today's TSV states:

Why is it different: Precision Hair Removal Technology helps remove a majority of hair the first time--reducing the number of passes required to achieve smooth skin. A three disc system--one fixed-tweezer disc and two that open and close to gently stretch the skin--helps increase comfort and efficiency. The staggered, dual-opposed heads cover a wide area and gently holds the skin taut, making epilation more comfortable.

They don't sound like 2 different products, but I know it's the Q's job to sell sell sell. I just don't like the implication that today's TSV is some kind of new technology when in reality the only advancement seems to be that it's $3.00 more than LY.

As far as the battery operated models - I really prefer the power cord so much that I wish my emjoi callus remover had one as well. The power starts fading so fast it affects the performance of the tool.

I have the last TSV. It works great, I love it. I love totally removing the hair (mine is so prickly- I hate it). Last year's TSV isn't really painful, but I have found there are some tricks to epilating. 1) Take a hot shower and exfoliate 2) Epilate right away while the skin is warm and the follicles are open 3) Hold the skin taut. While I'm doing it, it is just a pinchy feeling, not really painful.

I find about 4-6 hours later, the areas sting a bit- so I do it early in the day. Once I did it late in the day, and at night I couldn't sleep without some Advil!

I doubt this epilator is really very different and less painful... JMO.

It looks exactly the same as the erase that was the TSV 2 times previously in the last year. Which also has dual opposing heads and the same number of tweezers. I can't see anything different other than the handle shape and the fact that it doesn't include the additional shaving head like the previous TSV. I really love mine and I'm glad I bought the last one.

I compared the descriptions from last years in the Insider with this one. They both have dual opposing heads, they both have 60 tweezers, they both say "precision hair removal", both have dual speed control, both have sensitive cover. And I know the erase from last year has the "three disc system".
