I bought an ice maker from Costco last year for $79. Mine makes actual cubes. This looks like it makes nuggets that melt quickly. Easy pass.

DH loves his nugget machine. Got it at Amazon Makes 45 lb/day and cost less. He keeps is running all the time. We use distilled water in it. I like to crunch ice and this is safer than crunching cubes.

David keeps saying that it makes ice every 5 minutes, if in a room with an ambient temperature of 68. No stats for functioning at a higher ambient temperature.

I wonder how well it would function at 78, which is where I keep my AC setting here in TX. Friends have similar ice makers and they perform well in warmer homes.

Me too. I bought it for my husband from Sam's Club. Same machine and price as Costco.

we would not get enought use of this and i would hate to store it. so easy pass for me.

We go through ice quickly. It's just the two of us but everything we drink has ice in it. Coffee, water, tea, flavored drinks. We both fill up a 36 ounce flask daily of water to drink. We live in the desert so water is always with us. Previously I would buy 2 bags a week of ice from the grocery store. We fill up an ice container every other day with this machine. We bought it last year from Costco for $79 and they are still selling them.

I like it. The blue one is beautiful. However, the price is crazy! That's a lot of bags of grocery store ice! So, it's a no for me. I have a large freezer that I can make trays of ice in.

DH bought an ice maker from Amazon in October that cost $89. We drink iced tea and ice water all year long and were buying 10 pound bags of ice about every other day. It makes 26 pounds of bullet-shaped ice a day. It's self-cleaning, has an electric eye to stop making ice when the basket's full and stops when it's out of water (we also use distilled water). As another poster mentioned, it's soft ice, so it melts faster and is easier on your teeth (if you're into chewing ice). It has more than paid for itself in the 8 months that we've had it. If it breaks down, we'll just order a new one.

I'm in Arizona so you know it's hot. Ours works fine and we keep our A/C at 79. I'd be broke if we kept the A/C at 68.

@hkrgrl Be aware, the ice machines they have make cube ice vs nugget ice. If that's an important factor, the nugget ice machines will be more expensive than that anywhere you buy them.

I think it's wonderful that QVC is carrying a new brand. That's encouraging.

I can see many people having a need for an ice machine like this. I'm not one of them, but can see it fitting some lifestyles.

Yes there are ice makers at a third of the price. They don't all do the same thing. For some the additional features are worth the extra price.

That seems kind of expensive for something like an ice maker. I think it would be nice if one entertained a lot and you had an amazing outdoor kitchen space! I don't nor do we entertain (except for kids & grandbaby) a lot.

I also have a good fridge that makes a lot of ice plus two additional freezers in the grarage in case I needed to make more.

I really love this size of nugget ice when I get it in restaurants. To me, there's something about the little nugget size that makes the drink taste so good.

I'm thinking if I'll get my money's worth of this; $279.98 is a lot more than I thought these would cost.

I cannot figure out if this keeps the ice frozen inside if you aren't using all of it immediately, or do you have to bag it and freeze it once it's made.

There's a Frigidaire ice maker that makes small, medium and large ice cubes in similar amount of time. Reviews say it's also very quiet, and also no water hook up needed. There's no handle on top for carrying, but I wouln't be carry this anywhere. It's $115.99, so I'm looking at that one too.

I can't imagine how or why I would ever need such a thing---we entertain several times a year; hubby runs up to the gas station and gets ice. It goes in a cooler or ice bucket. For all the other times, our fridge makes more ice than we need.

It keeps the ice for awhile before melting. It’s insulated pretty well. I don’t have a nugget maker, but have had many of the bullet shaped ones. I wouldn’t recommend Frigidaire. We had 2 we got from Sam’s & they both went out within a few months. Glad Sam’s made it good. We have a Magic Chef that has lasted longer than they normally do. We do want a nugget ice maker but you can get them cheaper than the tsv. Hope this helps.
