I just watched Ali Carr's presentation and darn it, I couldn't help but think how skilled the hosts are at sales. When I first saw it was the TSV I thought it was a dumb idea, but after watching, Ali *almost* had me thinking I need this! I had a free session at a local stretch/infrared sauna studio some time before the pandemic and I just loved it so much I purchased a 3-month membership. I really enjoyed it but it was quite expensive and I decided not to renew. I remember how good it felt to stretch and how difficult it can be to stretch some parts. Stretching really does feel good and you need to do it or you can lose some mobility, not to mention the various aches and pains. And yes, they did call it exercise, although they stopped short of mentioning caloric burn, which I doubt adds up to anything with this mat.

All that said, Ali NEVER mentioned the body size issue, and that's a very good point!

Is this some kind of joke? Who would possibly spend $200 on this ridiculous product? Are we so lazy that we need to plop down on a mat and have it lift up our lower back with a remote control? What if it hits the wrong spot because you're short or tall? And, stretching is just stretching. It's not real exercise. This looks like a product that should be on SNL. What could I possibly be missing about this TSV?

Homedics has a similar product on Amazon. Read the reviews, and you'll see why this product could be really helpful for people. I'm not going to purchase it, but I have hip bursitis right now along with torn cartilage in my wrist, and it makes some stretching positions almost impossible to get into by myself. I can see how this product might be helpful.

When I was younger and a fitness instructor and personal trainer I would have thought this silly, also. But, now that I am older and have had serious health issues this could be a godsend. Stretching classes abound and they run in the $50-60 range for a half hour session. Those should be an option but this can be done anytime and is portable to take on vacation, etc. Just read the reviews and they are mostly 5 star, those who have the heated version say it is really not warm enough anyway. So, useless as this may seem to some, it is perfect for others. To each their own, to each buy what you need.

@Goldengate8361 I agree completely with @meem120. How can you state something is a joke without trying it. I purchased one very similar to this for my husband last summer. He has been rear-ended 3x and a long time surfer, has had many back, leg and neck injuries. I admittedly must say I was a skeptic when I purchased it but by no means would I say it was a joke until trying it.

He loves it. I even told him it was pretty pricey so make sure he really likes it. The $200 was worth it, according to him. He will lay on our stretching table and go through the complete cycle. It has really helped him. For all that are considering it, I have tried it (I have no major injuries) and it has a different sensation than stretching yourself. I don't see a huge difference but it does have a different feel afterwards, not in a bad way. As mentioned, my husband has had numerous injuries and loves it but I would say it is more a stretching device than excercise.

@Goldengate8361

I was SO disappointed!!

I set my clock for 1155PM so I'm sure NOT to miss the airing of the secret TSV....

Wiping the sleep from my eyes, I first thought Shawn was dead on the floor, and they just hadn't panned away with the camera yet!!!

Then, after the crushing disappointment at being let down AGAIN by another less than EXCITING TSV, I couldn't get back to sleep.

I cruised thru the channels, landing on HSN, where there was NO volume.

NO volume.

I wondered...DO they have a control room and does anyone monitor the program as it airs?!?!?!

I eventually landed back on QVC, where to my dismay, was two hours of glitter covered, color morphing, red truck/church covered sugared villages and pillars and candles and "picks" for 50.00 that looked like ..well, you know.

I'm glad Shawn was not dead.

I bought a product similar to this a couple of years ago, thinking it would help my back. I used it once and ended up in such pain that it went back immediately.

There are many different kinds of back problems and sometimes these gadgets can exacerbate an already existing condition. I'd never buy anything like this again without first speaking with my chiropractor.

It looks like they re-purposed their back massaging device or maybe it's competition for another brand's back massaging device. I could see that being popular especialy for singles or people like me who's husband is not good at giving back massages. I sometimes get a knot in my upper back and I could see that massaging device possibly helping that. Currently, I take a tennis ball, place it on the spot, and go up and down and around against the wall. It hurts like h*ll, but helps to loosen it up.

BTW, stretching is a very important part of excercise, but that is when it is done in conjunction with the exercise. You can just do stretching, but that by itself is not exercise, although a chiropractor might disagree. To compare this device to yoga or pilates is ridiculous. Those exercises involve more than just being manipulated.

I have chronic lower back pain. I often awaken in such pain that I can hardly move the first hours of the day. I'd love to try this gadget to see if it would help me. I don't think it's ridiculous at all. If you're in great pain, you'll try anything that might give some relief.
