Thoughts on Gold Day??

What did everyone think about yesterday's Gold Day?? I thought it appeared to be a good selection of items in all price ranges.

I want to know why they didn't call it the Gold Rush!!!

i thought it was great - good cross section of jewelry and there actually were sale prices. i enjoyed seeing the higher end items. good job,, QVC.

I agree, good selection and prices- I was not able to see all of the programming as I was working. I missed some things I wanted. My only suggestion was as long as QVC is breaking from the traditional Klondike Gold Rush, why not move this day long event to the weekend? I was happy to see lots of folks buying- that could mean more jewelry programming. I miss the jewelry shows.

For the first time since I started watching QVC I didn't watch even a minute of it. I too was curious about the name change but it seems they're determined to blast into oblivion anything that speaks of the 'old Q'... As for them doing somethiing like this on a weekend, by now, apparently, they think we should all just accept weekends are given over to the most tedious possible programming...

I did look on-line and while there appeared to be some lovely pieces being shown, I guess I felt that they appeared to essentially be showing the same handful of pieces throughout the day and most of the pieces were pricey. I didn't notice a particularly good mix of price range, other than, of course, the usual range of hoop earrings... Again, some lovely pieces, but on the very rare occasion when I'm dropping a thousand bucks on jewelry, chances are I'm doing it locally where I can actually try the piece on before I buy it.

I had mixed feelings about Gold Day. I was pleased to see some gemstone gold jewelry and some higher end gold pieces. It seemed like most of these pieces were toward the end of the evening. I viewed off and on but I the length of time spent on the TSV had me turning the tv off. I always like to see Peyton and what he's presenting because it's usually something that I would like to own. I noticed there were easy pays but I of course I was hoping for more. The items I was tempted to purchase didn't have the six easy pays or the rings had too skinny of a band on the back. I wear my jewelry and those skinny bands do not support that ring. For me, I thought it was improved and there was more variety. I liked seeing the size 5 in rings. I don't know why they did not have shorter shifts with the hosts. There seem to be some time when they were just stretching things out too long on some items.

I too was working and do not understand why they did away with the Klondike Gold Rush or why they NEVER do these events on a weekend. I guess they count working people out as wanting to buy gold and think we only want blenders, computers, beds or vacuums. I always enjoyed the jewelry shows, but since the Q has pretty much cut real jewelry from their programming, my $$$ has gone elsewhere. I am one of those people that prefer to buy one quality piece rather than a bunch of little fake stuff. With all that said, what I did see a little of last night, I thought they had a couple nice pieces. With all the gold that sold out I would think they would see there are still some people who want real gold jewelry and are willing to pay for it so I don't understand why they don't do more gold shows during the course of the year. I just don't get it.

Didn't like the lack of new - so much old, been there, etc., and also really was looking forward to Gold Rush this January since gold prices have been dropping, but I thought prices were higher than last Gold Rush, so didn't buy a thing. Also didn't like that the Q combined Gold Day and Gem Day. They are getting way too far away from jewelry. Need to get back to more jewelry variety, both in precious metals and gemstones and also in costume jewelry. Miss many costume lines we used to see on the Q, including artisan jewelry lines. In short, I thought a terrible gold day and I've seen a ton.

For my two cents on name change: have an idea the word "Rush" may have something to do with it as in rush to buy etc, and they may want to take a more low key approach.

I was disappointed that most of the hosts did not dress up. Especially Antonella, Q gold lady, did not take the opportunity to dress up. Also don't understand why she was relegated to a non prime time schedule for the day.

As for the jewelry, nothing special for me.

Seems odd that day like gold rush could not be on a weekend yet they schedule designer jewelry day on Super Bowl Sunday.

I thought it was great and have the liberty coin bracelet on my WL...the only available size is 6 3/4...I'd love it in 7 1/4.....but it's a steal at the clearance price!

A pitiful version of previous years. Terrible prices - they don't seem to be reflecting the reductions in the price of gold.

I wasn't able to watch any TV or use the computer, but looked on my phone.

I thought a lot of good peices were shown that I've never seen before.

I'm on waitlist for the solid gold bangle. I hope it doesn't fall through. I ordered it in large.

Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't just go for the average. That may've been still available.

Are the gold deals still going? off to check!

I was very busy at work this week, but ordered three items, two rings and an omega necklace, yesterday. Only the omega was on easy-pay.

I am glad the Q sends reminders about these things or I would have missed these items. To me the selection seemed much stronger this year. There have been improvements in inventory and pricing since gold prices started going down a few years ago. They are still 40% higher than they were in 2006, though.

But 'California Gold Rush' denotes an historical event. I think they're trying to make the show titles plainer for this younger customer base they're tying to attract from flipping through their on-screen cable listings. They don't want to use the QVC jargon that make senses to us, who remember all those years waiting for the program guide to come in the mail and seeing exactly what we expected to see, California Gold Rush on January 24. In December 2015, Silver Style became Silver Style Jewelry. Discover Diamonique became Discover Diamonique Jewelry. Destination Gold became Destination Gold Jewelry. Vicenza Style becomes Italian Jewelry. Big Bonanza Silver Sale becomes....????

Antonella was in her usual timeslot, taking over for Lisa Mason. Jane took Lisa Robertson's timeslot and Rick took Mary Beth's.

I miss the gold items that QVC used to have. Now they fill the pieces with resin. I want my gold solid through and through.
