Magnetic Clasps

Where have they been all of my life? I saw one advertised on a shopping network last week, but wasn't willing to pay almost $25 for only one. Went on ebay and found 6 for $6.95. They are wonderful!

I have a couple of pendants that I love, but would give it a second thought because of the clasp. Now, magic!

Agree these are great gadgets. The older I get, the harder it is to work the tiny clasps.

I love the idea of them, but because I like my necklaces short, the magnetic closueres add too much length to the piece. I don't purchase necklaces that are more than 16" in length and the clousure add at least another inch infortunately.

Almost lost a JR heart pendant on a leather necklace. The magnet holding the heart just weakened and gave way.

Be careful with the magnetis closures....

My pendents tend to be quite light - nothing heavy. So far, they've worked well. Thanks for the tip.

Magnets work fine on necklaces but use one on a bracelet and you are almost guaranteed to lose it. The attach themselves to any steel like flatware, grocery carts, even the meat case at the grocery.

I think the ones that are more expensive

are solid sterling.

I'm a bracelet lover and have given up on O-ring and lobster clasp type clasps. Who wants to FIGHT with their jewelry? Not me!

Now, I wear only cuffs, stretch, toggle and my new love ... magnetic clasps. The only downside is you have to watch it when you have your hands on the shopping cart .... so I've gotten in the habit of keeping the magnet on the top of my wrist. They are SO easy to work with!

I've been seeing the real gold ones on Jtv for quite a while but I never bought any, $25 was a turn off and then they were selling gold over sterling and sterling for about $12 each, I bought one in each color. I have many pendants but I don't wear them often because I have problems with the clasps and chunky man fingers, he can't do the fine clasps for me. I'm happy that I can wear all those pendants now. I also bought those gadgets that help you do bracelet clasps. It took a little practice but now I can put my own bracelets on without help. And i can wear 7.5 inch bracelets. I always bought 8 inches beause it was easier to do the clasps.

It seems as I get older, jewelry clasps become smaller and harder to manipulate. I have 3 or 4 gold and gemstone bracelets that I can't even get on with a bracelet buddy anymore. And forget asking DH to help--he complains he can't see the clasps well enough to be helpful. My New Year's resolution is to take them to my jeweler and have the clasps replaced with something more workable.

The magnetic clasps are nice for necklaces, but I think I'd rather just have easier to fasten clasps on them--less chance of loss that way. And no way would I wear a bracelet with a magnetic clasp!
