On 2/13/2015 depglass said:
Even the so-called "cheap" jewelry channels, LC and Rocks, are still offering 925 and 10K gold. Keep in mind these are basic simple pieces and some of the gemstones are not top quality. My point is QVC could work on a few items if they really tried. I'd much rather have 10K than any of this resin filled or bronzo.

I have to agree with you........i see other channels offering sterling & 10kt items at reasonable rates and wonder why QVC hasn't done that. Instead...they offer tons of the resin filled, bronzo, plated items instead of "finer" pieces in sterling or 10kt and even 14kt. They could sell a simple sterling ring with a lovely gemstone at a reasonable price...but instead when they offer a sterling item it is huge, bold and designer and the way overcharge for the silver items and their defense is how silver has gone up in price which it may have somewhat but how do other channels manage to produce and offer with reasonable prices then?? And when they have actual 14kt gold items....again ...they basically offer HUGE, BOLD or DESIGNER pieces and the prices are high. I think alot of these pieces sell because many of the QVC customers are "yearning" for 14kt and sterling items and they purchase these expensive items when they see them shown.......i used to order quite a bit of jewelry items ....but now only a few here and there.....have been going to my local jeweler or looking elsewhere.

My mom and I used to look forward to all the special jewelry days and now we have been disappointed once too often. It is no longer special, exciting or worth our time and money. QVC has lost their fine jewelry creditability for me with all their over priced costume jewelry. The good stuff has gotten lost in the mix and I am not willing to shift through it all. If indeed there is a market for this costume line it should not be sold with fine jewelry as it has diminished it all. Lisa not here anymore has made it just more tedious. She probably cringed every time she had to sell some bronzo or other such folly. She is not the reason for my changing views on QVC's jewelry quality but just a domino in their decline.

I remember when seeing Vincenza events meant that it was going to be GOLD jewelry. Those times are long gone! First they started with that awful Veronese costume jewelry, then it went to other types of costume jewelry (the bronzo one I think, the resin-filled, and silver) to the point that there is hardly any gold left in the line. They should re-name themselves the costume jewelry channel. But then I suppose most of them have gone to 90-95% costume jewelry so there would be a fight for the name.

I tried looking at the 'recently aired' for the other day's event and only saw one gold piece in several hours and finally just gave up. I'm not even going to bother looking anymore.

I agree. I used to look forward to the jewelry shows also, but not any more. I'm not interested in bronze and I know gold is super expensive but what happened to silver? They don't even have good silver shows any longer. I also used to enjoy Honora and usually bought something but since they have turned to setting so much of their pearls in bronze I no longer watch the presentations. I'm just thankful that I bought what I did back in the day when the quality and value was really there.

I want nice new pieces of jewelry to get excited about but when I do buy I am often disappointed. Like I said before, you have to sit through so many costume pieces that I am just tired of wasting my time with the jewelry events that I used to make a day of with my mom. My last Honora piece I bought I would of kept if it had not been made of bronze…beautiful pearl with a gemstone but couldn't get past that it cheapened the piece. Keep plated jewelry out of fine jewelry shows and events unless you want to make a whole day of costume jewelry in which case I won't have to waste my time sifting through it all.

Just speaking for myself, I don't care much for any type of mass-produced jewelry. I like individually designed, vintage, and artisan pieces best, and if I am going to buy mass-produced jewelry I don't want to pay a lot for it. Frankly, I'm not going to sit in front of a TV screen for hours on end watching sales people talk up jewelry that's being sold by the thousands of pieces......regardless of whether it's gold, silver, or costume, and regardless of price. Just not worth that much attention.

I had a LOT of early Joan Rivers jewelry, and I'm really enjoying wearing her high quality costume jewelry now. I can also remember buying qvc 14k gold and paying less than $20/gram for it. And yes, jewelry buying WAS fun then, and it definitely is not fun now. I don't buy Bronzo, and I only have a very few pieces of 10k, one, a necklace and bracelet set that my DSs gave me when They were about 6 and 8. Sentiment counts!

I agree. I love Hagit, but she is shuffled aside which I think is ridiculous. Even if she wanted early mornings herself, they only give her one lousy hour and many of her items have never been shown. I suggest that those unhappy with this post it on "Q Did What" for what it's worth.

I do own some lovely Bronzo pieces, but I don't want an armoir filled with it. I want silver. I can't afford gold and don't want cheap gold pieces. I get tired of them forcing Bronzo on us. I did order some VincenzaSilver straight from the fair which I will receive in May. I also ordered the tubogas necklace which was presented that day. I ordered it in white to go with the silver pieces I ordered. I wish it was silver.

I miss all the special designers who have come and gone. I wish I was a fly on the wall during their meetings with Q to see what on earth happened. Were they being pressured to dumb down their jewelry? I wonder.

Nevertheless, I will still be anxiously awaiting Big Bonanza Silver Day. Last year's was a bust, with constant repetition of the same items over and over, which is QVC's MO now. If there is anything that appeals to me online, I guarantee it will never get a presentation. That has been happening to me a lot lately, both with Hagit and Big Bonanza.

A couple months ago I broke my vow not to buy any more Q jewelry. Got a simple pair of sterling wedding hoop earrings with omega backs. Wore them about 3 times. Last week when I got them out to wear, the post fell off in my hand. That it! No more Q jewelry. Junk.

I also miss the 18KT gold shows of the past. Fortunately I purchased some nice jewelry, which I still enjoy. QVC needs to change the name of the jewelry shows - to "fake" jewelry. Why do they use fancy names to entice us - just to show JUNK!!!!!!
