new direction for RLM

I've missed seeing Robert Lee Morris lately, and, frankly, I thought he was leaving. I have some really pretty pieces, even though they're all a bit too big for me. But now he's given up on silver altogether. Gosh, I'm tired of Bronzo... Will you still buy RLM in this new incarnation?

Those are the metals he has always worked with. He did silver for QVC, but his work outside of QVC has always been in brass and bronze. I'm glad to see him returning to his real design esthetics and the flowing and more sculptural pieces. I missed the show, but am looking forward to new shows.

Love RLM but just couldn't justify paying $95 (with taxes and shipping) for bronzo so I cancelled my order. Wouldn't have cancelled If it was about $20 cheaper.

This is untrue. He historically worked in sterling and either 14 or 18K gold, and for the larger pieces sometimes in brass. He has a diffusion line we've all seen at department stores that's fashion jewelry with base metal. Bronze is new and only at QVC. Personally, I would not have a problem buying something in bronze but not interested in paying sterling silver prices for it.

Do you think it's possible, QVC made a special request for RLM pieces in bronze? I do.

I normally don't like bronze, and I hate paying gold prices for silver (esp when the metals have really dropped in price over the last three years.)

But I buy Bronzo Italia on sale for the style. I like the cuffs.

I don't mind buying jewelry in different types of metals and I like the bronzo pieces that I have bought. What I do not like is when the hosts talk about how expensive silver is and use that to justify the cost of bronze. Yesterday, silver was 60 cents a gram. I don't consider that overly expensive. I know that bronze is even cheaper than that - pennies for a pound, so why the high prices? I hate to say it, but I think they are pulling our legs. I'd be interested in seeing a breakdown of how much it really costs to produce one piece of jewelry.

I remember a long time ago learning that jewelry had a very high markup of 200% or 300%, but I think QVC is trying for 1000% markup. LOL.

Thanks for all the thoughtful input. To non jewelry lovers, all this must seem a bit silly. But there are very few real innovators in jewelry design, and Robert Lee is one. I was pleased to see him return to that molten silver style that has made him special. The Andy Warhol detour wasn't my cup of tea. Still, mixed metal is fine, but all bronze, and at the same prices as silver....well. At least we got to see a variety of designer. I miss Ann King though...

Thank you, Gardensla, for stating the truth. I recall with great pleasure those days at work after an RLM show. A friend and I would make sure to cross paths after our purchase(s) arrived to see what eachother had chosen. Some really striking pieces! I love them all.

However, I will NEVER purchase bronzo. I find it totally unattractive and phoney looking.
