I received the Ripka Verona earrings today in citrine - J317691. They are very disappointing.

First the good: The citrine stones are a good color. The lever backs (which are my favorite closure and why I caved) seem sturdy, but I didn't try them on.

The Bad: The earring is not fully Ripkarized and seems unfinished. Above the stone are a trio of Judith's "cherries" in DMQ. The silver on the sides of the cherries looks flat and unfinished. It's not shiny and high polish. It's a little rough looking like you might find on the underside of an inexpensive silver ring, if that makes sense.

The surprise: The citrine stones are smaller than I expected. The earrings in general are more petite than I expected. The prong setting of the small stones rather than bezel setting doesn't do these earrings any favors.

Grade: I'd give these a D. OK, maybe a C- because the quality of the citrine stones is good.

These earrings are a completely different level of quality than I'm used to with Judith's pieces. i hope this isn't an indication of what we can expect in the future.
