Do yo realize it is a garbage quality ruby? I understand that not everybody can buy premium stones, but you have to be aware of what you buy. Bracelet by itself is good looking but the content.....

ITA about it being over-priced. Totally opaque rubies set in silver? yuck squared.

It's a shame Chuck has gotten away from fine jewelry in recent years. He used to sell really great stuff. Now most of it is costume. I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. That price is just insulting.

I did watch a few minutes of his presentation from last night and, as expected, he's acting like these awful awful rubies are the best thing ever. I love rubies and have many. But I'd go for quality, not opaque pinkish rubies - and set in silver? gadzooks. Clearly they don't deserve to be set in gold but I'd just pass entirely.

It is not Chuck's or anybody 's fault that they sell what they sell these days. Good quality gems are commodities and the new money nations like China and India invest in it rather than money. That's one thing. The other thing is that the generation of people who were willing to pay for good stuff is getting old,or dying off,or simply watching their finances that were crashed by failing economy. The young generation is spending on clothing, bags, shoes , electronics, outings, etc and simply it's expensive to raise kids these days. So they are not the target audience of the gem industry. That's my analysis of the current situation.

I didn't think it was overpriced at all for what it was. It was almost 17 carats for under $200.00. It's personally not something I would want because I don't care for opaque rubies but I thought it was a fair price. If those were good quality rubies, in that carat weight the price would be cost prohibitive.

This was a repeat TTV so I wonder what the reviews were like on this previously? I only saw part of one presentation but I figured if they weren't commenting on this being a customer pick after the last go around, the reviews were probably poor.

I'm with scottie and NiteStar--I can appreciate the beauty of a ruby that is opaque. I have a bracelet with just such stones that my husband gave me as a gift for my birthday--Rubies are my birthstone. The stones are certainly not "the finest quality" rubies, but they are lovely and I love the bracelet. Like a lot of husbands, mine doesn't know diddly squat about gemstones or jewelry. The fact that he thought to get it as a gift for me made it precious, but the number and beauty of the stones in their gold setting makes it a lovely piece.

It would be nice to be able to own only the finest gems on earth, but that is unrealistic for me at my income level. Rather than have nothing, I'd rather have what I like and can afford.
