I have the sterling expandable bangles on advance order. Today I noticedJ317391.What exactly is silvertone? Does it scrap off? Would it be worth adding a set of these to my sterling ones? You get 3 in the set. Thank you for your opinions in advance.

These are the ones you're considering. They're just a silver color, hence the name silvertone.

If you search "charm bangle," there are several choices. Steel by Design has a set.

there is at least one bracelet online that is steel... the silverTONE ones are base metal

You probably would like these better as they are Sterling Silver 925.

The difficult thing (at least for me) is that they never mention the alloy (metal) under the white tone wash. I'm allergic to most alloys and I break out and the color wears off in a matter of weeks. I can wear most sterling silver although I've had some cheaper sterling that has made me break out, but the better pieces do not.

I do not even buy silver tone or gold tone anymore. I've never tried any of the bronze pieces for the same reason. They mix the bronze with an alloy and don't tell us what that alloy is...
