QVC has many to choose from. You see them on some of the people in the news. What does it represent. My basic knowledge is that the vertical is Christian & the inverted (upside down) is Satanic. So does that mean the horizontal is a neutral position? This was my interpretation, but why publicly display this? Or, why not I guess? Everyone has the right to adorn themselves however they please in USA.

Anyone seen anything of interest on the subject?

I found several articles which discusses it.

http://the-end-time.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-latest-christian-fad-is-wearing.html

http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2013/jun/24/bling-or-blasphemy-upside-down-and-sideways/

http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=598741

I think it represents the same thing a vertical cross represents.

As for an upside down cross -- Peter was crucified upside down, and he wasn't Satanic.

You're putting way too much thought into it.

It was just a way to place a cross into a bracelet or necklace without it being a dangle or charm of some sort. If there's a way to make money out of something, you can believe that somebody somewhere will find it.

An inverted cross represents St Peter, not Satanism. He was the first Pope, pretty much NOT Satan. Legend has it that when he was crucified (a popular Roman method of execution), he asked to be crucified on an inverted cross because he did not feel worthy of dying in the same way that Jesus did.

It's actually carved into the Pope's chair at the temple of the Sermon of the Mount. It caused quite a stir among people who think Ozzy Osborne is a history professor and think the symbol is Satanic. There are websites that actually proclaimed the Pope is Satanic.

Metal bands, because they are not history professors, decided that using an upsidedown cross would mean disrespect to Christianity and used it as a symbol of heavy metal, which is ALSO not Satanic. I suggest you get your information from less biased sources than The End Times blog, which pretty clearly has an agenda.

The sideways cross has no historical meaning, it's just a designer look. I suppose you could say, if you wanted to make something up, that it means the worship of trends and fashion. That's probably more accurate than saying an inverted cross has something to do with Satanism.

As far as anything being satanic, well for those who do wear anything for that reason, its up to them.

If a person is a "Christian", its okay to wear or eat anything because of the New Covenant which says they are saved by grace, they have been crucified with Christ and their spirit is essentially new and born again. The Bible says they are no longer condemned and bound by the old covenant laws. A cross is just their way of representing their faith, be it upright or sideways.

These end times, sin-obsessed groups have somehow taken grace, mercy and right-standing with God through Jesus and faith meaning the consciousness of God's love and have made it into a self-works, I-can-do-it, sin-self-conscious all-about-my-works in order to be acceptable to God , so for them its a works-based life. They find sin in everything. Its sad because they are driving people away from the true, basic message of Gods love for them and they don't realize all sin, past, present, and future has already been done away with, forever, at the cross.

Sorry, I'm off my soapbox now.

I won't argue theology at all. The new testament says over and over, the 10 commandments were a covenant made by God with the Israelites only. In Deuteronomy 5, God said "I am Jehovah your God, who rescued you from slavery in Egypt" then the 10 were given. Jesus, a Jew and Israelite, said He came to fulfill the law and the prophets meaning, the people, His people, were not capable of living up to its requirements. He said in Matthew that he didn't come to abolish the law and the prophets but to fulfill it and once that was accomplished, it was fulfilled. The cross and His death was that accomplishment, that fulfillment!! He is essentially the new Adam, and He did away with sin and death at the cross, thus fulfilling ALL the requirements of the law! Then He sent His apostles out into the world to help all the world, Jews and gentiles see that He, Jesus, kept the law perfectly for them all for all time.

The 10 were given to the Israelites at Mt. S. to show them that in themselves, they were not capable of ever being able to meet the requirements 100% of the time. The law was and is still essentially a mirror to reflect our sins, it was never a list of if you keep this, you are good and righteous. It was given to them because they were rebelling and complaining and He wanted them to see how they needed Him to keep them safe and nothing else. Today, after the death of Jesus, we no longer need a mirror to reflect our sin because our sin has been paid for 2,000 years ago by Jesus.

Today, the NT states everywhere that Jesus died once, for ALL, for the remission of all sin. Every sin committed by all, everyone, forever has been forgiven and paid for yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Romans 7:14 states this. Hebrews speaks of how the law of sin and death is dead, gone, we no longer are judged by the law or our ability to keep it at all. Not just the ceremonial law, but all law the 10 commandments and all the 619 laws of cleanliness, etc. established after the giving of the ten! We don't get saved, accept Jesus as our savior, accept His death for all sin, have our sin forgotten and done away with and then go back to works of the flesh, insisting we keep the laws like "do not commit adultery, murder, steal, etc". That is saying His death and sacrifice isn't sufficient to make us holy so we need to be good and be led by the dictates of the law to keep our salvation. It negates the death he suffered.

He said on the cross, "It is finished!" Now we are born again. Our spirit is new, clean and born again and is perfect forever. The Holy Spirit now lives inside us, in our holy, perfect spirit made perfect by Jesus' death on the cross. I no longer live but Christ lives in me and He is perfect, He paid the price for all sin. Now His Spirit guides me into all the right ways to live. Colossians 2:9-23 and Colossians 3 all talk about this life in the Spirit of Christ that lives in us and guides us into all the right ways to live. Yes, our human nature will fall and it isn't born again, yes our mind and soul need to be renewed every day and it isn't born again but our spirit is perfect and it will guide us into all truth. The law only brought condemnation, guilt, fear, and self-righteousness, self-reliance, an all-you-require-I-can-do attitude. The perfect compliance of Christ is the only standard that is acceptable to God, not our pathetic attempts at goodness or holiness, no matter how well meaning they are. God now sees each of us as perfect because in our place, Jesus fulfilled every single requirement of the law, he was sinless, he paid the price for sin, which was death.

The Bible says they are no longer condemned and bound by the old covenant laws.

Which implies that the 10 commandments are no longer applicable -- ?

We can argue theology till the cows come home.

No ennui, they are not.

Jesus's death wasn't to give you permission to run amok.

Btw, where did you copy that from?

On 4/29/2014 ChynnaBlue said:

How interesting. I was always under the impression an upside down cross was satanical - glad to know the real history.
