I love Judith but these prices are ridiculous...

I love Judith Ripka and am definitely a Ripkanista. I own so many of her beautiful pieces but over $600 dollars for a 4.50 garnet ? and the list goes on. In my opinion lately the prices are overpriced for what you are receiving. I look forward to her shows and anticipate purchasing her pieces but I find myself purchasing less and less if anything at all. Anyone agree?

Yes I've noticed this too, they suddenly seem insanely expensive. Not sure why that is, but the line is getting harder to afford.

I agree, but ... every Ripka visit, there's a topic with complaints about prices, followed by a topic about 'what did you get,' so people grumble, but somebody keeps buying.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Agreed ennui1. Let me clarify, I could purchase these items if I felt they were worth the price. It's not about being financially unable to purchase, its just not feeling the items are worth that kind of exhorbitant amount.

I agree. I love Judith dearly and all she designs. Have collected from the beginning. I'm scared to add up all I spent but the pieces I have are beautifully designed and have a heft to them. Now, I find myself going to either clearance pages or maybe OTO or not buying at all. Have to be VERY selective.

I love Judith too and am a Ripkanista as well! I have about 3 jewelry boxes full of JR jewelry and so glad I purchased when I did. These prices are too high for my budget (on most items anyways) however I seem to always find one item that I like and can afford. With that said, the thing that really bothers me is that so many of her items go in clearance within a few months and I've already spent full price. I could understand after about a year, but some items go on clearance within months as I said.

I, or one, just feel like I'm getting taken advantage of. So I do not buy at these unreasonable prices. I just marvel at how many people have to use Easy Pay and yet they still buy.

As long as people are buying it the prices will continue to go up. Just my opinion....I don't buy pieces because they have a designer name on them. I have some lovely pieces from years ago that are 10k and 14k gold and even a few diamonique rings set in gold. I prefer those to paying for someone's name.

I am happy to have bought so many of her lovely pieces, because I can no longer afford most of them. I topped out at the pink monace ring which is my favorite. Obviously, her pieces sell at these highter prices, and that's just the way it goes.

I'm not a Judith Ripka customer, but in response to the topic of higher prices for the better (designer) jewelry lines, I'm willing to not buy as much and get that one or two fabulous pieces.

I own mostly older pieces, but I have to say that her pieces seem boring to me now. Nothing fresh and new to peak my interest. The pieces keep getting gaudier and higher priced.

The mark up is OUTRAGEOUS. I bought her silicone strap watch for $89 ... very pretty, but it couldn't have cost more than $5 to manufacture. I sent it back. Nobody likes to be taken advantage of, and I the the JR pricing does just that.

I have a few of her pieces. I think all her jewelry is really pretty, but it is just too fancy for my everyday style. I too think her prices are way too much for what you get. She is charging for her designer name, so I am sure there is a huge mark up on her items. Someone is getting greedy IMHO.

I agree. I remember when she used to have her visits, my sister and I would be camped out on the phone together watching all of her shows. Over the last few years, I DVR the shows and rarely watch them. I may scroll through the shows online after the fact. The pricing is OUTRAGEOUS, especially when places like Last call, her website and her boutiques have her JR2 line for 40% off all the time and those prices are better than the Q. My sister and I got her BIG JR2 Monaco's for $500 the last time the boutiques had a sale. The sales person emails a catalog, and she mailed them right to us! And they are FAB! and I feel I definitley got my money's worth for the size and quality. But it's true, people keep buying JR with the massive markup just because of her name. I too am glad I got Q pieces back in the good old days. Besides a few of her cuffs, even if the newer stuff she offered was still at the old Q prices, I still wouldn't buy. Most of the pieces are a rehash of something she did years ago for half the price. Nothing new or fresh. That's okay, more money to spend on shoes and bags!

And, one of the few, besides JR for Q, that does cool clip earrings. I have a couple of pairs that I adore. It is not an inexpensive line, though. It is a matter of design difference, more than price, imo.

On the other hand, happily, just last week, I found some great prices on some JR for Q earrings via an "as is" and a lunchtime special. They just arrived a couple of days ago and I love both. So, watching this week will be like going to the grocery store on a full stomach.
