I bought one piece of his jewelry. A 3 strand necklace amethyst and sleeping beauty. I haven't worn it yet. We'll see how it hold up. It was only $100

With all the hysteria about the Carolyn Pollack TSV, did anyone notice that Jay is back in town? He was on early this morning for several hours. He mentioned that he will have a TS tonight and hinted that it will go with rainbow calsilica. Every piece of that stone I've gotten (and returned) has had a muddy look to it. The sample they show on TV is always bright and clear. That's an ongoing problem with Jay's jewelry...they pick the best to show but what you actually get may be a far cry from the TV sample.

I tend to like Jay's petrified wood pieces. They are so unique. I also liked one odd, flame-shaped pendant and matching ombre, dark to light. copal necklace. I have to break them out and wear them. They really are lovely.

HI Kachina,I totally agree you about this stone. My friend bought a gorgeous cuff with the nicest cut of rainbow calsilica at an antique show. Every single piece cut I 've seen since then has been bleck. I wanted to try to get her a ring to match but it all looks bad. I recently found a pair of earrings with nice stones but they were small. But the stones were very nice. Maybe it's hard to find a good cut in a larger stone?

I love Jay to death, but his jewelry is so hit and miss for me---I pay careful attention to the reviews because I find them to be pretty accurate. If an item of his has an overall 4 star with many reviews, I would consider purchasing it. Nothing less than that.

I agree about his petrified wood pieces and other unusual stones--he brings some really unusual stones in and if they get the right setting and construction, they can be winners.

Used to describe persons who have adjusted or altered their lifestyle for environmental reasons. Crunchy persons tend to be politically strongly left-leaning and may be additionally but not exclusively categorized as vegetarians, vegans, ecotarians, conservationists, environmentalists, neo-hippies, tree huggers, nature enthusiasts, etc.

Also used to describe establishments where alternative foods and products are sold, i.e. natural food stores.

Modified derivative of granola.

"I need more crunchy guys in my life. I'm so tired of dating preppy metrosexual a*******."

"I'm heading out to the crunchy store to pick up some fair trade chocolate and tea tree oil, do you need anything?"

As for the metal licking, it's definitely a dog thing. My German Shepherd would lay next to an antique milk can and lick it for a while, especially on a hot day. He would also snatch flatware from the counter.

No, I did not mean chunky jewelry. It was not a criticism of him. I said I enjoy watching him. Crunchy jewelry to me means jewelry that is Bohemian. I think of his jewelry as having straight lines. I don't think it flows. Jay says over and over he is not a jewelry designer.

He does have people that design some of the jewelry but he usually says he thinks the stone is the most important part of the jewelry, that's why he has said much of his jewelry is what some call plain.

When you say hit or miss that pretty much explains the way I think of it.

It's slang. If you knew me you'd know I use way too much (some would say) slang for a 67 year old woman.

My daughters and I have always used the word. It isn't meant to be disrespectful of his work.

My late husband and I used to play word games all of the time.
