Over the Top Ridiculous Prices

I really don't care that it's a, Judith Ripka design. How can they charge almost $600.00 for a sterling silver bracelet and almost 1700.00 for a 14kt CLAD GOLD over sterling necklace?Just my personal opinion, but I think they are taking advantage.....period!!!!

would love to know how many they actually sell at those prices...and how many are returned....I don't even watch JR anymore.....quality has gone down, prices have gone through the roof.......not interested any longer

They are high, but stuff is selling ... some things are always going to cost more than I'm willing and/or able to pay, but that doesn't bother me. Honestly, with all the DMQ, I wouldn't wear most of it for any price.

I purchased pieces from her a few years back diffrent , quality pieces. Now her jewelry seems to all look the same over and over and the pricing is not worth it for the product she is offering. Emeralds with diamonique - no thanks.

At these prices, NM Lastcall and Sam's Club are looking better than QVC. I do not understand why QVC is going head-to-head with JR's higher priced lines.

I don't watch the shows, but I know her work and know she is a high end designer. She is in some very exclusive stores. I think her prices are for her name. The items she sells at barneys, Neiman's and other stores are real gems and real gold or silver. Last Call sells many of her pieces and they are close to QVC prices on sale, but they are the real deal, not clad, or man-made stones. I think she just requires a certain profit margin for designing her work. She doesn't sell to QVC exclusively. The price of gold and silver have really gone up, as have labor and expenses. Just my guess. The prices do seem high. Many people spend quite a lot on their jewelry, not me...because I am more of a handbag collector. But she has a strong fan base and has been around so long

I wondered the same thing but I'm not really a fan of her stuff. Having said that, if you like it, that's great.

I made a major purchase a few days ago. Won't be buying any jewelry for the next few months so I can pay that off and get back to saving.

On the last show, I'm pretty sure I heard Judith say that something to the effect that her couture customers are coming over to Q and buying things here now, so they can get the same look for less money, so they don't always have to wear the genuine items, especially when traveling. I have wondered since the prices have soared so high, if they weren't trying to pull some of her other clientele over.

Some of the JR pieces today were pricey, but did you bother to look at the prices on B Bixby's pieces? She had a camel enhancer that came in at over $600....JR's pricey Ceylon Sapphire enhancer is at least all sapphire and a rare Ceylon blue.

You are so right, emeralds and dmq just doesn't work for me. I would rather just an emerald and no fake stuff. If I am going to spend my good money on jewelry I don't want anything fake on it.

I can't wear anything sterling silver so when I want a white metal I have to look for stainless and wish they had more quality stainless as well as pieces with real gemstones in. I prefer gold of course which looks the best on me with my fair complexion but, have to settle for stainless lately due to prices.

I wouldn't pay those prices for sterling though even if I could wear it, just can't see it but now the price doesn't bother some so, as everyone says, to each their own.

Actually, it's not over $600.00 now and wasn't for the shows....but Barbara doesn't use diamonique or clad. She uses sterling and casted 18K as well as real stones. To each his own, but let's keep things in perspective, ok? I have the enhancer in question and it's a very heavy silver piece with a TON of intricate work on it. Worth every penny. As someone who has a birthday in May, I was attracted to some of Ripka's emerald offerings, but then she sprinkled diamonique all over them and ruined it for me. Why would anyone put a precious gem with fakes? Sorry, no offense to those who love that or her, but I don't get the mix.

I too thought the prices were way too high. I wonder who sets the prices, QVC or the designers. Do you think the designers insist on a certain mark up? Frankly, I wish the QVC designers would make similar items in stainless steel jewelry. I like stainless steel and it is much less expensive.

There must be a market for these higher-priced pieces, otherwise I don't believe they would offer them. To each their own. I miss the days when JR offered genuine SS, with genuine gemstones, and real leather, without all the diamonique filler. (I saw the faux leather necklace with the non-removable charms offered as a OTO yesterday, and was surprised at the price, considering the materials.) I enjoy wearing those pieces purchased 7-10 yrs ago and am happy I splurged back in the day

over the top way expensive, crazy insane for gold clad that rubs/wears off, fake stones etc - I continue to be bowled over that it ALL looks the same - way ho hum.
