Hello ladies,

Well, the moment of truth has arrived. Or at least A moment of truth. I had recently returned to the Ripka fold (and forum) and was so happy to join in the fun. Thanks to those of you who encouraged me during JR's last visit. I will probably always admire Judith, but my purchases come in at 50/50 and I am discouraged.

I ordered a rose clad rolling bracelet (J274060) and the Diamonique moon charm with yellow-centered star (J279168). Unlike some critics, I don't mind JR's use of Diamonique. I'm not a big clad fan, but I'll try just about any jewelry thing at least once! Many of you said you loved the bracelet, but, alas, I do not. I go way back with JR on the Q and have some of the early, weighty pieces. They are truly a marvel and I guess they have spoiled me. Not only does the clad bracelet miss the "heft" mark, but it has what I can only call a "prefab" look that this line took up a few years ago.

I remember back when JR's appearances were far less frequent. Her visits were an exceptional treat and her designs seemed a touch more special/unique. I've read on the other forum that JR is, in essence, "working for" the Q now and this has caused quality/design issues. Is that true? I know silver is more expensive, yadda, yadda, but it isn't just that. I've looked closely at my older pieces; they are better made and the lines have a more hand-carved look. (Please know, I'm not "hating," I just want to express my opinion and see if anyone else shares my experience. I've posted here rather than going straight to the item page to give a bad review without context.)

As for the moon charm, I'm a bit concerned about the clasp, only because it doesn't have the lobster clip of the old days and seems like it could easily get pushed open. I think it will be okay on the neck instead of on the wrist. This is too bad, cz I wanted to complete my old-fashioned JR charm bracelet! Charm is pretty, and I'm a moonchild, so I'll probably keep it. Bracelet is going back, however. Sorry, don't mean to sound like an "old back in the day" fuddy duddy, but the difference between the old an new is astounding. This might be the end of a beautiful relationship...
