During this morning's "Saturday Morning Q" show the diamond vendor (Michelle?) was showing a pair of Affinity doorknocker style earrings with colored diamonds, and she added an "Easter Egg" promo for the upcoming TSV. It's actually listed in inventory already, albeit not at the TSV price, but it lets everyone get a good look in advance to decide whether they are interested or not. It's a tennis necklace, 16" with a 2" removable extender with safety clips, NOT an attached chain, so it looks much nicer. It comes in 5cttw, 7cttw and 10cttw, silver or gold plated. If you want to take a look, go to the Fire Light page, select Necklaces, and sort by Newest First, and it ought to come up on top of the list.

So, are tennis necklaces such a classic style that they are never "in" or "out" of fashion? Do you like them and wear them, or are they too "fancy/dressy" for the modern lifestyle's casual wear these days? Or does the carat weight dictate how "fancy" the necklace is, would the 5cttw be an "everyday/workday" necklace, but the 10cttw only an "opera/symphony/wedding" necklace only? I look forward to hearing your opinions, but can we please refrain from the automatic condemnations of "not real diamonds" and "CZ is good enough for me" and discuss the necklace on it's own merits?

Diamonds are my birthstone, and I REALLY love them a lot. I have not yet purchased any lab grown diamonds, and I may never do so.

I am attracted to all the rainbow colors that radiate, and the eye-popping sparkles.

I looked for a long time to buy a gorgeous, splurge but affordable (for me) legacy diamond tennis necklace.

I ended up purchasing from Macy's the five carat set in GOLD graduated tennis necklace. The gold is sturdy and a good weight, and the neckalce is about 17 and 1/2 inches. Graduated necklaces feature very large diamonds in the front, and have an extremely elegant dress-up look. I do have to say this necklace is pretty eye-catching, and not really for every day. I do save it for special occasions. Macys's also sells a similar three carat necklace.

Okay, I find the Fire LIght Diamond necklace a bit more suitable for every day because all of the diamonds are the same size. There is not quite the same level of drama as a graduated or overly ornate diamond necklace. Smaller stones are also lower in cost. However, silver is a softer metal, and sometimes if stones are too weighty, silver links will break apart.

Truthfully, I am comfortable paying hundreds of dollars for silver, but never thousands. I also dislike that silver tarnishes.

Lab grown diamonds continue to decrease in cost and value. Even JCP sells them in tennis necklaces. Zales and other vendors also carry them. I would spend time doing cost comparisons, unless I was completely in love, and money was no object.

Nowadays the average female neck most popular size seems to be twenty inches on QVC. A sixteen inch diamond tennis necklace is a very snug, high up fit, and many women will not be able to wear it. Perhaps the sizer should have gone up to twenty inches as well.

I would consider buying if the price was a LOT lower, but certainly diamond tennis necklaces are very beautiful, and worth adding to one's collection!

Thank you, @SilleeMee and @FancyPhillyshopper . I hunted around in my jewelry box and found a Diamonique tennis necklace to wear this afternoon, and I admit, I felt a little dressy to walk my dog in the park, but for going out to lunch or shopping I am sure it would feel okay. FancyPhilly, I appreciate your take on graduated vs matched size stones, I had not considered that comparison, but I agree, your Macy's necklace does indeed sound spectacular, and very dressy. Regarding the price, I expect the TSV price on the 5cttw to probably be $999, down from the current $1,300, but have not speculated on the higher carat weights, and we will find out soon enough, I know. I am not too concerned with the silver settings not being sturdy enough, although I am sure nobody would try to tow a dump truck with it. I have several silver tennis necklaces with gemstones in them, from years ago, bought on the Q (I'm fondest of the blue topaz and garnet oval stones) and the gems are considerably larger than these diamond necklaces, and the settings are still secure and sturdy, 20 or so years later and wearing them each several times a year. I wouldn't sleep, shower or swim in these diamond necklaces, but I expect they will be fine for normal wearing. If someone grabs it off your neck to steal it, it might break, but better the necklace than your neck, and won't the thief be bummed out when the fence won't give him a plug nickel for plated silver and lab grown diamonds, LOL! I sort of view lab diamonds as a nice "bridge" between CZ and mined diamonds, and I don't have to be too worried about losing them, where a mined diamond lost would be a much bigger blow, financially.

I have never been a diamond girl. But I do have a couple of very lovely pendants that have diamonds as accents, so they are tiny. I like the idea of lab grown stones but have no desire to own any. A tennis necklace doesn't appeal to me at all, real or faux. Now I will wear a strand of pearls any the time --well not like June Cleaver😜

Tennis necklaces don't go out of style. They seem to be on an upward trend right now, especially with lab diamonds getting more popular and affordable. For a lot of people a natural diamond tennis necklace would be out of reach but now having lab diamonds in the mix it's possible for many to get them and so they have become popular.

I may try that set this summer with a pale colored sundress, and it might mix nicely with turquoise, too, for summer. I'll see if that works whenever the weather warms up here.
