Chaco Canyon - copper

Chaco Canyon, on the sister channel, is using copper on a few of their pieces now. This has been a prestigious Native American brand, so I'm finding this a bit disappointing. Assume the zooming price of silver is to blame.

@Bookplate. I wouldn5 buy pieces of Native jewelry with copper, bronze or gold. It's not authentic and something like copper tarnishes readily and looks terrible, rubbing off on clothing.

I wouldn't call HSN's Chaco brand prestigious. It's made under factory conditions and is not considered serious Native jewelry. It's terribly over-priced and touristy.

@Kachina624 Thanks for this info. I had no idea it was made under factory conditions. I certainly agree about it being over-priced, and I wasn't a bit tempted by the new mixed metal pieces.

According to the vendor on HSN, she claims chaco canyon is the only true southwestern jewelry still made in new Mexico. I thought american west was still made in the US

Not sure where you are hearing/reading that it's "made under factory conditions". The rep/vendor for Chaco Canyon has stated during on-air presentations that it is all "True authentic Native American hand crafted pieces".

Agree. I'm not a fan of the copper as well.

Gem shopping periodically has a native American jewelry show. The real deal. Signed by the creators. They are too massive (Native jewelry was worn mostly by men) silver pieces. Prices were not that high, despite the obvious weight of silver. From several hundred up to $2,000.00. Try and catch one of these shows. Really fascinating to see them.

I bought one piece of copper --was a chain --and that stupid thing tarnished so badly that I tossed it out--never could figure out how or what to clean it with--

I saw some of the Chaco Canyon show. Some of the pieces shown were so chintzy looking and the prices are nuts. Did not care for them using copper and then talking about copper helping with arthritis! Chaco prices have always been high though.

I have a liquid silver multistrand chain I should have returned it when I got it. It's turning an odd -looking yellowish silver shade. the findings always dug into my neck

I do have a beautiful turq saddle ring from them years ago. That ring was car, ved with litttle horses not stamped and it is sighned.
