topic question about Bixby skull ring in Jewelry

Hello...I added this to a thread, but am afraid it will get lost and so am asking for feedback.

I'm trying to decide what to do with my ring. I want to love her so much, but I have to admit my heart sank a bit when she didn't look as pictured on TV. she really is too beautiful a concept to return, but maybe an exchange? From what I've read here and in reviews, there can be substantial variation in the abalone effect. I think my abalone is okay, given reviews, and true, it does show up differently in different lighting. I guess I just took for granted the rings would be that high color contrast of brilliant blue/green on Lisa and online. What really threw me off, however, is the paleness of my rhodolites! If they were pink sapphires, I'd be happy, but I think I'd like a little more depth of color in my garnets! Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!
