Those Nails!

Finally have to say....Hosts wearing the long pointed fake nails. Very distracting, they can't pick things up and certainly should not be wearing when presenting jewelry. Eyes are drawn to the long points. They look like drug store nails not even coverage to your cuticles. Please please get natural nails or talk to Host that has natural looking nails.

I've been saying this for months now. I don't understand what this statement says about women who have pointed nails. It's ugly, nonsensical, extremely distracting.

How do they do housework? How can they cook, prep food to make for dinner? they can't pick up anyting, they can't feel anything with their fingers because the points are totally constantly in the way.

Natural nails you say @Buster56 - this would mean rip off the fake points, be glad for the natural nails you have.

The worst nails for hosting jewelry shows was a former host. The nails become the main attraction, rather than what they are supposed to be selling.

Come out and join us in the year 2023. I understand that you don't like nail art. I understand that you don't understand so it unsettles you but it's been with us for years and it isn't going away anytime soon. It's not something I would do but I like looking at the nail art that other women choose. Time marches on and I march right along with it.

I assume the hosts who choose those points appeal to others who are out of the average age of many Forum posters. I am seeing long pointed nails on many working women, but I'm not blaming those nails for what I buy or don't buy. I don't watch jewelry or shoe shows because I know without looking that I'm not buying any.

None of that means I like those long pointed nails. Rejected them 40 years ago. My manicurist then used to love doing my acylics - short and rounded. So natural looking I faked one bridge-playing friend for several years.

I am not a fan of the crazy nails either--just too long and weird colors --used to be that was not allowed. On JTV there are many hosts with awful shaped nails that emphasize their not so pretty hands and fingers too.

I guess I am not watching many jewelry shows. I haven't really been bothered by the hosts nails. However, I always love the color choices Leah uses. I think her nails are very pretty and the colors are gorgeous. I think she should come out with her own personal set of polishes "Leah's Set". I just love her nails.

I had acrylics in the '80s for a few years but they were more natural looking. I was at our office Christmas party and a half dozen women were comparing their fake nails - someone mentioned I was the only one with real nails. That's how natural they looked.

I'm not a fan of the pointy nails or overdone nail art.

It's the style. Most of the young women I know all have their nails done like that.

I over heard a couple cashiers in Walgreens encouraging each other to get nail tech certification (required in my state) because, "everyone gets nails!" LOL

In my day, it was the squared off or almond shaped nails. Which I still wear today. I just do my own. I keep them short with clear or nude polish. But I am also prefer a natural look in all things. I still get compliments on my hands though. :-)

Honestly ... this really has nothing to do with the state of nail art in 2023.

I don't think this "unsettles" anyone because they don't "understand" it.

This is about sales reps on a shopping channel dressing or accesorizing appropriately when they are being paid to SELL.

Employees in any industry often encounter the employers' guidelines to dress appropriately. Sales people also should do so. If what any sales rep is doing is drawing attention away the products being sold they should be sent home to change ... or find a job where their appearance doesn't matter ... like a call center.

That's really not too much to ask of people who want a paycheck.

This is just my opinion about the subject of the nail problem of the host, sometime we get comfortable with the order of things and complain for no reason at all. These nail designs has been around for awhile now and I think we need to accept that. I have seen this subject on this blog far to many times and these women can do everything just like any other woman can becase they are comfortable with them. We as older customers want things to suit us and not them, if you go to any work place these days you will see them and the ones on the host are not as long as some I have seen. The first time I saw nails longer than normal was on the hands of the singer Barry White's wife and they were her natural nails. So if this was a problem for the Q I am sure they would address that. They complained about a former host nails and she did a beautiful job presenting jewelry.

Just because it wasn't done in 'Our Day' doesn't make it wrong!

Let women do their hair and nails the way they want!!

Whatever color, style or artistic way they want. If women want tats...let them! Who is being hurt???

They aren't dirty, they aren't broken.....Let them be for heaven's sake!

Just don't wear Your nails like that!!

If anyone would walk away from a cashier because you don't like their appearance....that's a character flaw on US.

How crazy to think they are not appropriate sales people because you don't like the current style.

Yes, asking them to change their preferences for Your liking...IS too much to ask.

Previous decades had some doosy fashion trends that made our parents cringe too.

Remember the 60s, 70s and 80s?

This too shall pass.

I still think to each their own and just because they aren't my cup of tea it doesn't matter to me one way or the other....

The party writing the paycheck gets to decide what's "appropriate" and what will not be tolerated.

If you owned a business that sold product, and the sales reps were turning customers off with their "styles" and less sales were made, perhaps you'd see it differently.

It's important to know your target market, and do what attracts and appeals to them. Since most of the viewers that actually buy from QVC are over 40, all the sales people should dress and accessorize like sales professionals.

Honestly, I don't care "what the style is". It doesn't matter. Those with outlandish nail art should remember it's a LOT easier to hire or replace new sales people than to maintain long-time steady customers.

QVC is trying to increase their sales....trying to attract younger clients....

allowing current trends is a step in that direction.

Do you think younger women want to tune in and see D&C on everyone with old fashioned hair-dos and granny shoes?

The only thing I may agree with you on is the one who writes the paycheck dictates.

Since QVC has not 'cancelled' their nails...they Must be fine with it.

Talk about not knowing anything about business...do you have any idea how hard it is to find employees these days?????????

Someone comes in and doesn't look Your way....but will show up and actually work?? Hired! Blue hair, pink, pointy nails, short nails.....a body that is willing to work in clerk job is nearly impossible today.

The only ones being turned off are a few posters here of an old-fashioned mindset.

What You may call 'outlandish' nail art is Beautiful in other people's eyes.

Stop judging women!
