Why aren't we seeing much of it since gold and silver is so pricey. The Q had quite a few lines of it like Joan Rivers and Lee Sands. I can remember an art deco style and southwest style that was affordable. Judith Jack marcasite was pretty but real silver. I miss watching those shows.

I still have a piece of Judith Jack Marcasite and an Erwin Pearl pin that has never tarnished and it must be 25 years old. Who was the older man who sold jewelry and was usually on with Jane? He was a well known jewelry designer but I had a hard time watching him because he was always coughing.

@frenchie Jewelry of any type is just not popular now. It's said the younger generation would rather spend their money on "experiences". I have two forty something nieces and this certainly is true for them. They couldn't care less about jewelry.

We older ladies have enough and don't want more.

@Desertdi Many I see have Apple watches and a wedding band if appropriate. Some check their phones for time and no watch at all.

Some others have multiple ear piercings. To each his/her own. I've even seen men wearing pearls.

It's just not the current trend...so it appears dated. People are not buying. Trends come and go...if you love it and it is your fashion statement, go for it and enjoy!

Won't wear costume. Only very fine jewelry. 18K, not 14K, platinum, not sterling, etc. Faceted & cut gems, not Cabochon, Salt water pearls, not fresh water pearls.

Yes. It's not Sterling. I really hate that stuff. So happy to fine Ultrafine. It's never tarnished on me.....ever. And I don't own any anti tarnish jewelry cases. So the only silver I own are Ultrafine. Did you know that pure silver will not tarnish? (unless it's in water) It's the copper they put in the mix. Sterling does that to make it harder. Ultrafine has very little copper in it. Softer, but it's does't tarnish. And it 's quite not as malleable. I don't have a lot of jewelry. But the jewelry I have is good stuff.

I like brooches so I always look for pins of all kinds. I have a fairly big assortment. Some were things that were given to me by family when I was a child, some were my mom's and grandmorther's and some I've bought myself.

I liked Kenneth Jay Lane's pieces. He and Marybeth used to present the line quite often. I've given some of those pins as gits. My boss wears one I gave her on her winter coat. It always makes me happy that she likes it enough to keep weariing it.

I was brought up in the industry having worked most of my adult life in the fine jewelry industry. I have a collection but was alarmed when a lot of my 18k gold jewelry tarnished from Tiffany's, collected over the past 40 years. I was meticulous in caring for it but it discolored in the back portion of handcast earrings. Yet earrings I bought in my 20's from Monet and Trifari, still look brand new.

I learned never to turn my nose up again at "costume" jewelry.

@Group 5 minus 1. And also called costume jewelry and most prefer that term over the two, at least the ones in the jewelry industry that I know.
