Need to resize my rings

I really need a pinky ring. I have two of them but they are size 5 which is now the size of my ring finger. I've lost some weight and my finger size has gone down. I was 112 lbs and I'm down to 107 lbs and I do't think I'm going to staying there. I purchased one the other week. A leaping dolphin diamonique ring size 5. It's wide so I thought it would fit. But it fits my ring finger instead. Couldn't keep it on my little finger. So I need a size 4 now & a 5 for my ring finger. I've stopped wearing my wedding set. Just too loose. I was wondering if QVC has size 4? I've never seen it. Everything seems to start at size 5. and up. I can't risk wearing my little 18K dangle padlock. & key ring. That one I can't wear on my little finger anymore. i wear my enegement ring on my middle finger now.

Maybe get a ring size-adjuster or take the rings to a jeweler and have them put some on.

Funny. Just got two gold rings sized at a cost of $250. Beautiful job and they look like new. In fact the jeweler asked me if i wanted to sell them. My finger is the same size, but could not get them over my knuckle.....another sign of aging i guess. (They are solitaires -- so there is one stone. One is my original engagement ring and the other was an upgrade engagement ring from hubby when sold his business. I learned sizing costs do depend on the stone placement fyi.)

@monicakm @SilleeMee Yeah. That's what I'm going to have to do that. That dolphin ring that arrived today is SO cute! Shame I can't keep it on my pinky. It fits my ring finger perfectly. My knuckles are small. It's weird. I have average size hands. I'm slight everywhere else. Everything gets smaller when you lose a lot of weight. My neck, my feet, etc. Places you don't think of. But they do.

I've had rings downsized and it was free or you even get a little something back from the jeweler.

I don't think the OP wants to have the rings made smaller at a jeweler but needs a temporary adjustment in case there's weight gain.

i wear a size 4.5 on my right ring finger, size 4 on the left. Any jeweler can resize a ring for you. Most jewelers prefer gold rings... 10k or better.

CONGRATS on yr healthy weight loss!!

My finger sizes change all the time, based on water retention, & esp given whatever season it is, for instance. (Thicker fingers in summer, Thinner in Cold Winters) Plus, otherwise, no consistency! I'd be a waste of money for me to have a Jeweler resize them.

I use this following idea for the varying, frequent, sometimes seasonal changes in ring sizes. (It merely occurred to me, I've not seen this before.)

I order THIN plain ring bands, a size smaller, & place them on my finger last, thru securing the larger ring, first & foremost on my fingers, first. This "size smaller" ring is thin enough that if the finger suddenly, or without notice, swells, the thin band can just be (wire cutter) clipped off my finger, in emergency. So thin, this band is hardly seen. Yet this size smaller, last slipped on my finger, secures the larger ring(s).

This idea, can be used in *any* metal. I started out with "Stainless Steel" thin ring. They "keep rings on my finger, since they're a size smaller." And often, they're hardly noticeable (cause they're, at least, part tucked under the larger ring).

If you don't want to try an adjuster you might try sizing beads. I have had them added to my diamond because it turns on my finger and falls over to the side or ends up with the diamond under my finger. They work great at keeping the diamond in place on your hand. FYI-these are bit larger than you might want or ned, but I don't feel them at all.

I have a problem with rings fitting me due to my enlarged knuckles. I have used the silicone wraps and the gold metal bar that fits inside the ring as pictured by @SilleeMee . While neither is perfect, I find that the silicone wrap is easier to use and replace as needed. The bar that is fastened inside the lower part of the ring tends to bend and become less effective over time. I bought a pack of the silicone wraps and can change them out as needed. My jeweler also places "bumps" in the ring to help adjust the fit. The bumps are made of the same metal as the ring material. Like platinum or gold, etc. There isn't any free downsizing of rings in my area, it costs about $100 to have them sized and that also varies by the design of the ring. If you expect this to be temporary @songbird , I'd try the silicone wraps.

This works really well, it's what I picked up whem I dropped all my excess weight. It does discolor and darken over time but no one sees it on the underside of your finger.

I lost weight & my rings are too big. I have been wearing a ring that fits in front of the ring the doesn't so I don't lose them? With the price of gold not paying to have them sized. Some due to value I would not leave some place for the work to be done anyways. I will try some of the ideas posted. Thanks.

Don't forget, not all rings can be sized by a jeweler. It depends on the metal, the style of ring, how much larger/smaller you have to go, and if there is a pattern that could be ruined or an inscription. I was in jewelry manufacturing for well over a decade, a lifetime ago! You can use most of these suggestions depending on the ring and what you want.

Unless you have a health issue causing you to lose weight I wouldn't do anything permanent. Around here sizing is an arm and a leg. Either way. I really envied the "free sizing, give you money back" jeweler.

@songbird I understand! My engagement ring & subsequent wedding band are size 3.5. I used to work at a jewelers - if you think you really need to size down your wedding set it might depend on how the stones are set. If the stones go down the side or if it is an eternity band it is not advised. If you have a solitaire & are going down 2 sizes or less then you should be fine. When I was married for 20 years my husband had my diamond reset into a new setting. The one in the store was a size 7. I had to wait weeks while they remade a brand new custom ring for me in size 3.5. I was able to order a wedding band in size 4 & then just have them take it down a half size.

@nova My diamonds go down the sides. About halfway. I know I can resize the engagement ring. I have two of them. My original one and a anniversary gift diamond solitaire. That I plan to size down. The rings, I don't know. For sure the gold rings. Ultrafine and sterling, I'll simply move them up a finger.

@depglass No health problems. The way some people gain easily, it's harder for me. I've always been thin. My doctor joked that I have the skinny gene. Except there really is a skinny gene. I can gain, but I really have to eat a lot of calorie laden food to do that. And I'm not a big eater. I'm also short. My BMI is perfect. I take after my father who was very tall and thin. My older sister is thin (117) and 5'8". I'm 5'3". So it kind of runs in my family. My mother is a lot shorter, but she was also very thin. i don't intend to do this permanent. I've only really drop the weight when I forget to eat regularly. I'm also a workaholic so...
